Interesting read on potential link between artificial surfaces, the toxins they’re made of and potentially causing cancer via abrasions from play.

I didn’t hear you moaning about the gross overspend on the children’s hospital. You’d want to get your priorities right rather than whinging at the can do attitude of the great Frank Murphy and Cork in building a superb new stadium. Reading this whinge, it becomes apparent the new Pairc Ui Chaoimh is quite literally the envy of Cork’s neighbours.

Typical rural Irish begrudgery.

All 4G pitches have those rules. Never seen them enforced though.

Thanks to Minister Ross we have a hape of them in Rathdown.

The ones made from tyres?

Are they banned in Netherlands?

Supposed to be very bad long term for knees and hips but the 4G ones are a joy to play on

The thinking is, oil-based products like tyres used in the manufacture enter the bloodstream via cuts and abrasions on the player. Studies to check on this were done but since laughed out as were funded by the rubber industry.

A guy who previously headed some arm of the NHS lost a son to a weird cancer he puts down to the pitches and is undertaking his own studies.
