The Grand National 2015 - The People's Race

We’re now just five days away from the blue riband of horse racing, the excitement is once again building amongst the general public, and the 40 finest racehorses in the world are raring to go to post for the People’s Race.

Liverpool is ready. The bookies are ready. The people are ready.

Any tips, @Mac?

Rocky Creek the one to beat with Alvarado the most likely outsider to do so

My five against the field are as follows:
Royale Knight
Monbeg Dude
Godsmejudge
Al Co
Saint Are

I’ll be putting 50 cents each way on all five.

Across The Bay
Al Co

I’m going with Al Co as I’ve now seen it mentioned 3 times on this forum. It must be a certainty

Al Co resonates with most of the forum :pint:

H’on Al Co.

Its just not the same when its not on the BBC.

Of course it isn’t, and I stated that clearly two years ago to supposed “racing men” like Mac who supported the move away from the state broadcaster. The BBC is the world’s finest broadcaster and once an event is not being broadcast by it it loses something.

It’s still a damn sight better than Sky though, and the Open will learn that in 2017.

:frowning:

Al Co bottled it, the cunt.

Looked like a dead horse there at the Canal Turn.

Gives me no pleasure to say I was right about the dead horse at the Canal Turn. RIP Ballycasey.

Leighton Aspell retains the blue riband of horse racing on Many Clouds. He’ll be on cloud nine.

What a story.

2nd, 3rd and 6th.

The TV coverage is sorely lacking Des Lynam.

Many Clouds. :clap:Had him in a sweep in the bridge club.

Winning horse on deaths door here. C4 flannelling like fuck here pretending it’s all fine.

Sherwood wins at Aintree.
Sherwood winning at White Hart Lane.

One of the features of BBC’s coverage I always enjoyed was the interviews with the jockeys in the weighing room as they watched the re-run (always narrated by Richard Pitman), which gave a great insight into the banter between the warrior dwarves. Channel 4 appear to have dispensed with this and more’s the pity.

Newish protocol is for FOD? Give the horses (that are naturally on death’s door) a drink before they get interviewed and so on.
