The 40 most thorough thoroughbreds in horsey racing will go to the starting blocks a few minutes before whatever time the great race starts today, and like petrified US high school students hiding under a table, they will wait for the sound of a gun. Death may follow for some of them.
But these lions of horses will not be petrified and they will not hide in the face of this NRA (National Race @Aintree).
I’ll be making my ceremonial once a year trip to the bookies where I will loiter around the cut out newspaper sheet with the race list which has been put on the wall, and I will then put €1 each way on two of them, and €0.50 each way on another.
