Are the overseas county boards who keep the GAA alive for emigrants to get anything? As an emigrant himself, I would have thought Mr McManus would have been particularly in tune with the plight of the diaspora.

Very true. As a tax resident of Switzerland he could not benefit from the US - Irish double taxation treaty he wanted to avail of.
