The Greatest Manchester Band?

The City has given us some of the greatest music in more recent times, which band tops it tho?? I know there are plenty more that could loosely be tied in- The Chemical Brothers, Inspiral Carpets, The Verve and David Gray…But we need this settled.

The verve are from wigan

I said loosely you utter cunt and I didn’t include them in the poll… You’ll be turned into a goat yourself if you are not careful.

Stone Roses-lock the thread.

Inspiral Carpets are more than just a loose connection tbh.

If your having the Hollies you may as well go the whole hog and include the Bee Gees & Simply Red.

I can’t vote for Stone Roses, Joy Division or the Smiths as I’ll have to leave one out !

I only put the Hollies in there to give @Fagan ODowd an option…

Great thread @Mark Renton , utterly pointless but a great thread all the same.

@Horsebox you forgot to vote, you asshole.

Done.

Balls. I was hoping you’d change your mind and hit the Smiths… It’s early days but this isn’t going how I hoped, I thought The Smiths would be a close second behind Oasis.

Never really got the Smiths, bro. I like some of their songs now but had no interest in them when I was a mad bastard teenager-too depressing for me back then.

Why didn’t you give me a real option like the Fall, Magazine or the Buzzcocks, if you were so interested, you smart arse wanker.

They come under other, pal.

Why wouldn’t the Hollies come under other then? Presumably then the vast swathe of acts that you are ignorant of come under other.

It was a bit of humour you bollox of a man… There are upmteen other bands I could have listed but the poll would be as big Tassotti’s fat head then - Where would we be then?? And no, I don’t know every musical act ever to come out of Manchester, but please feel free to use the thread to educate me you horrible, horrible prick.

It’s Holy Week lads.

Go shit in your hat, you scouse cunt.

I just have @Mark Renton. I have schooled you. Now calm down.

I’m a fan of punk, but don’t think the Buzzcocks warrant a place on/in the poll, magazine also, they probably have small cult followings and had a short shelf life than those listed, who reached global audiences… The Fall maybe—

The Fall is the snobbish answer.

The Smiths is true answer.

Let’s go for The Fall.
