Marie Farrell has stormed out of the court
Did the Barrister wave his mickey at her?
- Bailey and Buttimer will be seething as she is discredited now
State counsel has rattled her about being rattled
Ms Farrell had been asked to name the man she was with on 23 December 1996 when she saw another man on Cealfada bridge before the murder of Sophie Toscan Du Plantier.
She had previously told the court that the man in whose car she was travelling was not her husband and she did not want anyone to find out who she was with.
She repeatedly refused and when told by the judge to answer the question she said she wanted nothing more to do with this and walked out of the witness box.
Counsel for the State Paul O Higgins asked her to tell the jury who the man was as he could shed light on the case.
âIâm not going to tell you thatâ she replied.
Mr Justice John Hedigan had told Ms Farrell that this was one of the most serious cases to be heard in many years and that she was obliged to tell the truth.
âNow answer the question,â he said.
Ms Farrell said: âIâm going, Iâm having nothing more to do with this.â
She stood up from the witness box and walked out of court.
The case has now proceeded with the next witness, Saffron Thomas, who is the daughter of Jules Thomas, Mr Baileyâs partner

Someone find a picture of this wan from 15 years ago, @myboyblue?
She has returned to call and offered to write down the name on a piece of paper but the judge has refused. Riveting stuff.
This Farrell one is comedy gold
Farrell more sinned against than sinning?
Wesht Cork is full of looneys! Yer woman is hammered out mad.
Be some craic if it was Sergeant Jim
itâs all gone pear shaped for Buttimer and Bailey
Farrell has been told by the judge to go home and think about her answers - she was apparently on the run from DSS in London now
Ms Farrell said the late John Reilly had a red sporty car, worked in a factory and that she knew him growing up in Longford, but canât remember where exactly she met him.
FORMER shopkeeper Marie Farrell told the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission that she had to leave London overnight after she got into trouble over claiming income support and rent allowance, the High Court has heard.
she told the High Court in Ian Baileyâs civil action that she denied a suggestion by a lawyer for the State that she was âin a sense on the runâ from social services in England.
During heated exchanges, Ms Farrell denied a suggestion - by Senior Counsel Paul OâHiggins - that she had told an âoutright and barefaced lieâ to the jury.
Ms Farrell denied in court that she was in anyway involved in a benefit fraud after being reported to the UKâs social services.
But a video of her May 2012 interview with GSOC was played to the jury in which she told GSOC investigators that she left London âovernightâ after being reported to the authorities there by her husband Chrisâs sister.
In the GSOC interview, Ms Farrell said that she was supposed to be living on her own with the children and was subsequently asked by the UK authorities to return a sum of some ÂŁ27,000.
Itâs like an evil Benny Hill film down there. Fuck sake.
Only better
Twin Peaks-esque stuff.
Whatâs going on now?
