Im not surprised at franno but im disappointed you got suckered in. As you well know there is a delight at this result coming in 2m ahead of the budgeted 4.5m deficit for the year.

mate, we shouldn’t believe the spin

a loss is a loss is a loss

time to tighten our belts for the long term good

Worrying times for the IRFU.

Losing €3m a year.
Their best players like Zeebs and Donnacha Ryan being forced out.
The current u-20’s debacle.

deeply troubling

I’m reliably informed the Jackson/Olding episode was a cost cutting measure also.

No mate, Donners is a white lad from Tipp.

Only took up rugby football late but went on to be one of their best players.

Time to consider shutting down the Connacht branch again I’d say. With Galways hurlers and footballers taking all the public’s attention, and the Saudis about to bring champions league soccer to Terryland, only a handful of Friday night drinkers have any interest in what happens inside the dog track. I don’t think there is any lad from Connacht at the u20 world cup shambles either, the province is contributing nothing. The few who still have an interest in rugby can use the new motorway to get to Limerick in an hour and help fill a few empty seats in Thomond, and the savings made can be used to help ease the IRFU debts and maybe get some fair treatment for the females who play across the country.

Connacht runs as a low cost operation so isn’t a drain on finances like say Munster Rugby is. Killing Munster Rugby or selling off Thomond Park and reverting to Musgrave Park would be a far better thing to do from a financial point of view.

Do you attend many female rugby matches yourself?

+1.

Munster is effectively a Leinster B team… there’s no need for it.

There was nothing wrong with that post. No need to remove it.

That’s what I’ve been saying to the likes of @Cicero_Dandi about Chairman Dan and Spurs until I’m blue in the face. First priority is to balance the books. It’s good to see you singing off the same hymn sheet of financial prudence.

What debt does the irfu have?

They are in debt to all taxpayers to the tune of millions to start with for that abomination of a world cup bid that even the GAA couldn’t rescue. I know some on here don’t mind leaving taxpayers up to their neck in debt, or even have much understanding of what it is to be a taxpayer, but think of all the community facilities that could have been built for young kids if the IRFU done the right thing.

What a lovely read.

But no ACTUAL debt correct

Might have been better for society if the two chaps were snipped in a different way.
