the well would have Lynch, Byrnes and Gillane to help - Doon have a far better panel than the Well, but the Well won one, because theyâre used to it.
Kilmallock would have Mul and the likes of Gavin and Paidi OâBrien etc. Lads who made a huge difference at intercounty
Doon are lacking that real difference maker - the forwards like Barry and Pat Simon are outstanding club players but not at the level of the other lads mentioned
It took Na Piarsaigh a long time to win their first. I remember being in the Gaelic Grounds and they were completely destroyed by Adare
In fairness to Doon , Richie English, Darragh OâDonavan, Barry Murphy, Pat Ryan and co are well able to hurl too.
Nice sprinkle of young lads coming through too.
Iâd love to see them get over the line.
The Well have a winning tradition which is a huge factor although they had a 13 year gap from 2003 to 2016 . Over the last 5 years when Na P had a âgap year â they took full advantage on both occasions .
Doon are relying on the likes of of pat Ryan to be their marquee forward, whereas patrickswell have Gillane.
The Well are short in numbers coming through though it seems.
Na piarsaigh arent churning them out either, think Doon are well positioned to win a county in the next 2 to 3 years.
And they could go on a run after that.
I think Ballybrown will win one soon
Ballybrown have has a good minor team these last 2 years but they may well need a little more . We will see .
my opinion isnât based on anything other than intuition and a shrewd enough fella saying they are back doing things right
Coughlan is one of their best players, made a big impact for them in last years championship.
Theyâre lacking a couple of forwards yet though in my humble opinion.
They are doing very well to be fair but Doon on another level . Every Doon team is arch competitive in Premier underage championships and they are really providing county players .
That said there are no guarantees
Providing county players can be a curse for a senior club. Especially if they are only going training and not playing matches. Having 6 or 7 lads away with the county and only one of them getting a consistent game isnât great.
Ballybrown would have the most of their lads together all the year, for example
Depends on the club, if you have a strong 2nd team it doesnt matter as much.
Na Piarsaigh can easily still have 15 - 15 matches on any tuesday or thursday night.
Doon and Kilmallock can too.
The Well maybe less so, but theyâd manage it.
Fuck Doon
I think Quilty could make a massive difference there. If he stays for a couple of years, and Adam English makes an impact (taking pressure off Barry Murphy), thereâs one for the taking there. Although NaPâs strength in depth is ridiculous.
