I was wondering if there was a thread here about Liam Clancy.
I’m desperately sad about his passing. He was THE genuine proponent of Irish ballad singing, but without being too precious about it. He has great humour and I always thought an incredible confidence in himself and repsect for the songs he sang.
I’ve been listening a lot lately to Bob Dylan talking about music. Apart from being the obvious legend that he is, he’s a very interesti9ng and thoughtful commentator on folk and traditional music and his depth of knowledge is astounding (everyone should take some time to listen to his radio program, which is hard to access, but well worth it).
Dylan has enormous respect for The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and in particular Liam.

Farmer, a discerning man like yourself would enjoy Liam Clancy.
I see a DVD boxset thing about Liam Clancy advertised on the window of HMV, The Yellow Bitern. Is it any use?
