Hereâs where Iâd go play actionâŚ
Manning on third down again.
And thatâs the game.
What a player Eli is.
I think Aikman addressed the point well there. Time is the biggest factor. A FG isnât a disaster as long as they donât give up multiple first downs but thatâs the point no matter where they start from. Also had the hint of surprise at doing it quickly.
Cruz again.
Eel-like elusiveness from Bradshaw.
back big blueâŚ
Thatâs a terrific moment for the New York Giants football organisation.
And still Tom Coughlinâs facial expression remains the same.
And thatâs the game. Terrific stuff from New York.
Iâm delighted for the likes of me and briantinnion, regular posters whoâve attended Giants games this season.
Thatâs that. Fantastic stuff. Bring on The 49âs.
Goodnight folks.
This has been impressive.
Made all the sweeter by all the cunts on the forum who couldnât see past the Aaron Rodgers hype.
Two wins away from the Giants paying for a luxury trip to Euro 2012 for me.
Well done to the Giants. Green Bay could not make plays when they needed to.
Giants hit massive plays at critical times.
Looks like we are back to normal⌠Defense wins championships.
Patriots fans beware.
The last two times the Giants have gone to Candlestick in the play-offs, itâs been the tale of the two Matts kicking for the Giants. Bahrâs kick clinched a Superbowl berth for Big Blue on January 20th, 1991, while Bryantâs botched last play field goal attempt meant the 49ers held onto a 39-38 advantage in the Wild Card game on January 5th, 2003. What a game itâs going to be next Sunday.
Coach Cofflin will be a happy man tonight.
Iâm 6/8 in play-off predictions. Pittsburgh let me down last weekend and New Orleans this weekend.
Hereâs that 1990/91 season winning field goal for the Giants at Candlestick.
serious performance from the Giants, and was probably the one game I thought where the favorite tagged team might struggle this weekend. Eli was solid throughout, and the one thing about him the last few weeks, he isnt throwing picks. The Giants are in serious form, beating the Jets, Cowboys, then playoff wins over Atlanta and Green Bay. Theyâll find it tough going to San Fran, as their defence is going to be a lot stiffer than Green Bays, but I think they could do it there. I think their offence is that bit better, and not a whole lot between the defences. Itâll be a tough tight game though.
edit: forgot to mention Bradshaw. I really think he has been the main turning point for the Giants getting him back. It gives them a really good option on the running game, and he is great on throws in the back field and the play action is a more realistic play with someone like him there to keep the defence honest. having him back fit at the right time is a huge boost for them.
Not sure how the Patriots Ravens game will go. If Brady plays like he did the other night, then Iâd expect the Patriots to win. But the Ravens defence is a whole lot better than the Broncos, and there is only so many times the offence can bail out a poor defence giving up yards (Green Bay and New Orleans for example). Flacco isnt great, but Ray Rice is a beast and he could rip through the Pats defence easily.
It wouldnt suprise me to see a repeat of the 07 Superbowl. But then it also wouldnt suprise me to see a Harbaugh Bowl either.
So what youâre saying is that you wonât be surprised?
Its a Harbaugh bowl for me and not just because defence wins championships.
9ers didnât even use Frank Gore when they beat the Giants in the regular season, Eli had a great game that day too so the 9ers now have more to bring to the table in terms of improvement than the Giants. I can see a lot of 3 and outs next week, Akers far more reliable than Tynes and it could even come down to that.
Ravens will double team Gronko and Hernandez, Lewis and Suggs will get to Brady early. What have the Pats left after all that? A poor enough defence. Baltimore wins this easy imo. I donât say that lightly either. All they have to do is use Ray Rice, eat up clock meaningh Brady has less time on ball. The jets perfected it with Shonn Greene last 2 years, Ravens are even better than the Jets. Only question mark is over their road form and that may be a factor.
SF by 3-7
Baltimore by 7-10
yup, pretty much. I dont see much between the teams left. 3 defensive teams and one all out offensive team. Hard one to call with niners and Giants, and if the Patriots offence gets going I think they win. Without that offence, they have fook all so it will be on their shoulders to win the game.
