If you call it football you’re not really Irish
Adopted is irrelevant… Most people call it soccer. That’s what I’m asking… Why does every sports and Irish media website have a section for soccer ? It’s what the average person refers to it as.

soccer is used to distinguish from other types of football or football associations. It’s genuinely used where there is another native type of football.
So football is the Gaelic version here. The American version in America etc.
It should be called Asser
It’s played with a football. The people who play it are footballers. The game is called…soccer
If I’m talking about Gaelic football and association football in the same sentence I MAY refer to it as soccer but otherwise it’s football all the way.
