The Neil Lennon Effect

the Neil Lennon affect

he has made a huge difference since he came back to Celtic , Naka mentioned what an inspiration he has been . Also seems Forest were very happy with him

Not a bad tribute from Colin Calderwood within half an hour of the final whistle on Saturday considering he only made 18 appearances for us and they were supposed to have had a big bust up.

He was asked about the shock/effect of losing to Yeovil in the play-offs last season.

“The thing that really got me going again was signing Neil Lennon and going to meet Neil Lennon, and the effect he had on the group at the beginning of the season shouldn’t be undermined. He ended up developing players who ended up bypassing him and playing in the team.
His maturity and level of professionalism and the way that he barked at players and upset them on lots of occasions was the leading light to take us to where we are today.”

(Interviewer - To get you out of the malaise if you like after Yeovil last year…to kind of lift everybody again)

“Yeah, just the fact that he would come and then when he came, the type of character he was, and one or two players thought he was maybe talking down but he wasn’t. He never ever spoke about the level he played at he just expected better of them because he saw they could do better.
He’s had a big influence on what we did, certainly in the early part of the season when we were limited with strikers. He played with no fear and he gave a great platform for the likes of Julian Bennett, Wes Morgan and Kelvin Wilson to develop”.
