The Non Limerick Chippers Thread

It’s distinctly average fare, mate. Their speciality is some sort of deep fried kebab that I found inedible. Bizarre that it gets the queues it does imo.

Google the menu, it’s the kind of place you’d have to try, lots of people go mad for it so it’s doing a lot of things right.
It was an old fashioned fish and chip shop but specialises in Pitta sandwiches now.
There is no deep fried kebabs. :grinning:

A friend was telling me about a place (I think it’s on MacCurtain Street) where they do nice fish and chips. Stuff like swordfish. You can order the take away and they’ll drop
It into some nearby pub? What’s this place and is it any good?

If it’s the fish wife on mccurtain street then it’s outstanding fish and chips, could be some of the best in Ireland, I’ve not had swordfish nor would I bother, they do great Haddock, cod and the usuals.

Sounds like it pal. Probably down in Cork for a day or two next month so
Must check it out

Tis bad when a Corkonian doesn’t know the best chipper in his own city. KCs towers above all of those.
Jackie Lennox’s is the chipper version of The Emperor’s Clothes - a massive let down. Their burgers are pre-cooked and left there for a couple of hours to become shrunken and squidgy before some mug shells out 3.50 for them. Their chips are nothing but bags of grease, with extra grease added.

I see Dino’s are a chain now. I must have passed three or four of them the last time I was down.
I ate there once and it was decent to be fair, but I don’t know if you can keep the quality up in a chain.

Burdocks in Dublin (aside from the Christchurch one) are gank and Beshoffs, bar the Howth one, the same. Still people lap that shit up I suppose, you’d often see a queue for the one in Dundrum

KCs is bang average… Most of their creations are a bag of grease and mayo…I felt iIl after the few times I had a feed there…

Just looked up the menu there. It was the Creole thing I had which I was told was their speciality. It was disgusting.

The Creole is legendary but was never to my taste,
Recommendation for anybody in kc’s, Theres a thing called a Bombay chicken which is a killer two bite sized chicken pie wuthindian spices and mango. Gorgeous.
Kc’s divides opinion a little but that queue is there at all peak times so that says an awful lot.

There was a Dino’s round the corner from my granddad’s in Bishopstown when I was a kid. Think it might have been the original. The grandfather said yer man opened it up when he won the lotto but he might have been bullshitting me to ensure I would go do the quick pick for him

Was told they’re Quakers.

Keohane’s in Midleton - Chips/sausages/battered sausages/chicken/pies, that’s it. Oh can’s of coke, fanta, 7up and bottles of orange and the like.
Franks in Carrigtwohill.

That’s the original. Opposite the Outpost bar a favourite of CiT students and a kip to beat all kips

Had many a snackbox in that Dino’s as a a young lad. Did Dino really win the Lotto?

KC’s is ablaze apparently

:fearful:
The q cam is currently down, I thought that would be entertaining.

I’d have thought the PROC would be all over that but no mention, where’d you hear

Never heard about Dino winning the lotto, he was in the senate for a long time alright. Bog standard fare but he may have the only drive thru traditional chip shop in Ireland???
