Itās all about poverty, seaweed and cockleshells and that holds little appeal. I appreciate you and your associates enjoy explaining the various nuances to modern kids who donāt give 2 fucks for Peig and her impoverished neighbours. Each to their own and all that.
Iām not an Irish teacher mate, like you I also hated it in school but reread it in later life, itās a decent memoir of a very interesting time and place.
But thatās just my take, i spend a lot of time down there
