The not too well at the moment thread

Forgetting about the complete and utter shambless the country was in back then and who was or wasn’t responsible, I always thought Cowen was an alright sort. He just had a likeable character. The time he was talking to Mary Coughlan in the dail , fucking all round him and the microphone picked it up still makes me laugh.
I wish him well

He was and remains an ignorant cunt.

Himself and Rory kiely briefly joined our company at the races a while back. Kiely looked in better health than him.

When Bertie pops it you’ll have rewriting of history on a huge scale also.

“He was such a character. A loveable rogue.”

Cowen was an absolute disaster as both Minister for Finance and Taoiseach. Probably the worst Taoiseach the State ever had. McCreevy was probably a worse Minister for Finance.

Doesn’t mean I want him dead or anything.

Cowan wasn’t corrupt. That’s the best that can be said of him.

Just checked there with Juhy senior. He says half.

When you die does your pension die with you as a public servant? Thats harsh

There’s the spouses & children but AFAIK it’s for in service, not in retirement

In service yes, don’t think it applies to in retirement

The definition of ignorant cunt will always be Pee Flynn

Thats ridiculous really. Especially if there is a contributory element

Cowen entered into that interview voluntarily

Did it though

I’m pretty sure there’s no link between stress and cancer

Though there is definitely a link between the sort of lifestyles that are commonly associated with stress and cancer

Lenihan was diagnosed in December 2009 or at least that’s when his diagnosis was made public - he lived for a year and half after that

Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst forms of cancer with little prospect of long term remission

Cowen had pretty obviously been living a lifestyle that wasn’t healthy for years, it’s been over eight years since he had any pressure on him

Allied to his family history, it’s not a surprise to hear he is very ill

He sort of reminds me of Paidi O’Se in that regard

Politicians, especially pre 95 ones wouldn’t contribute that much to their pensions

Cowen was worse. McCreevy did spend it and had quotes to that level, but he did actually try to reign it in a bit. Bertie sent him packing to Europe and put Cowen in there as he was more compliant with Fianna Fáil’s two stool policy of increasing spending on the back of consumption taxes.

"Fianna Fail TDs have criticised the “vile” online comments about former Taoiseach Brian Cowen, who is being treated in hospital for a serious illness.

Mr Cowen fell ill last Thursday and remained in hospital last night where he is continuing to receive treatment.

The vast majority of people have been sending Mr Cowen their well wishes during a very difficult time for him and his family. However, comments by some individuals on unregulated social media platforms were yesterday branded “disgusting” and “nasty” by senior Fianna Fail TDs.

The party’s housing spokesperson Darragh O’Brien, who is a long-time friend of Mr Cowen’s, said he was shocked by the depravity of some online comments."

they don’t like people having opinions!

Christ wait until Pee FLynn passes on.

Very sinister language. The Indo is scared of people getting their news off Labane and Sidney and looking for an angle to shut TFK down.

Get well soon BIFFO.

Until the Sunday Independent has an opportunity to inform them of what their opinions will be.

They’d be well reminfded that there’s still a large contingent of people who are still feeling the effects of their mal and misfeasance. FF would be better keeping schtum and suck it up afterall, amazingly, none of them were lynched after the crash
