The Official 2012 Club Championship Thread

I just seen that St Brigids of Dublin have won the FĂ©ile hurling Div 1. They won the football equivalent 2 weeks ago in Portlaoise, thats some achievement for a set of player, presume there were dual players involved even with a club of that size? Portlaoise won the Division 2 by a point.

Draw for Galway quarter Finals

Gort v Padraig Pearses

Loughrea v Mullagh

Portumna v Turloughmore

St. Thoma’s v Castlegar

I see Portroe beat Toome in the North Tipp final.

The Laois SFC got underway this weekend. No real shocks, most interesting game was Timahoe beating their larger parish rivals Stradbally, but given Timahoe have Culliton, Quigley, Clancy and O Connor it wasn’t a huge shock some would say, but I’d say its been a while since TImahoe lowered the little towns flag. The most depressing scoreline came today with Portlaoise beating Crettyward 6-20 to 1-3, so they’re in the mood for 6 in a row it seems.

Picture of the week comes from the Clonaslee St Manmans bench today.

I see the draw for the Munster club championship was made

Good draw for whoever wins the senior hurling in Clare, a semi final at home to the Waterford champions the second week of November.

Well folks, the local GAA championships are coming to a conclusion in most Counties. In Tipperary the following are fixed for this weekend in the SHC.

The round 4 fixtures this weekend are as follows: Saturday September 15 at Leahy Park, Cashel, Eire Og Annacarty Donohill will play Borris-Ileigh at 2pm and Carrick Swans will play Drom and Inch at 3.30pm; Sunday September 16 at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh Toomevara will play Kildangan at 2pm and Loughmore-Castleiney will play Roscrea at 3.30pm. All games will go to extra time if necessary. The draws for the quarter finals of the county senior hurling championship were made at a meeting of the county CCC onMonday night and resulted as follows: Mullinahone v Winners of Loughmore Castleiney and Roscrea; Clonoulty Rossmore v Winners of Carrick Swans and Drom and Inch - these two games will be played in Semple Stadium on Saturday the 22nd of September at 6pm and 7.30pm respectively; Thurles Sarsfields v Winners of Toomevara and Kildangan; Portroe v Winners of Borris-Ileigh and Éire Óg Anacarty Donohill - these games will be played in Semple Stadium on Sunday the 23rd at 6pm and 7.30pm respectively. Extra time will be played in the four games if required. The CCC meeting also made adjustments to the county senior hurling championship plan due to the replay of the All Ireland minor hurling final. The county semi finals will now take place on Sunday October 7 with extra time if required. The county senior hurling final will take place as originally fixed for Sunday October 14.

My picks for these games are as follows,

Borrisoleigh to beat Eire Og Annacarthy
Drom & Inch to beat Carrick Swans
Toomevarra to beat Kildangan
Loughmore Castleiney to beat Roscrea

Please add further info on other Counties please.

Granagh/Ballingarry are in the senior relegation final. The decline of hurling in the west continues.
If they go down the protestant enclave of Adare will be the only west team left at senior level (although there is still a chance the hacket men from Kileedy could go up).

Surely Granagh will be favorites to stay up Runt?

Who do you fancy in the Senior semi’s? Betting is tight enough in the Adare ( 4/9 ) v Garryspillane ( 2/1 ).
NaP are 4/6 on while Kilmallock are 11/8. Decent prices for an Accum provided you can pick the winners.

Cracking weekend of hurling happening down here in Cork this weekend. I expect Bride Rovers to comfortably overcome Cloyne in the relegation final and then we have a feast of of hurling on Sunday down the pairc. I reckon Ballymartle will beat Bishopstown and the second semi final between CIT and Sars is probably the real county final. Should be a free flowing cracker and I think CIT will sneak it.

If CIT do win the Cork county they could very well win out the Munster as they will only go from strength to strength as the college year wears on!

Kilmallock will walk this.

Can CIT represent Cork in the Miunster Club competition?

No Hacketts on the team Runt. Just the usual stylish hurlers that we have always had.
I’d expect G/B to go down. Is it Knockainey they are playing? They are well used to relegation games at this stage.

You’d imagine GB would stay up but relegation finals can be very tricky.

I haven’t enough club hurling seen this year to make a call on the semis.

They can. As far as I know they are considered as a club. I hear lads down here who are in UCC and CIT often refer to the teams in the colleges as the hurling clubs so they are clubs alright. Its just the divisions like Imokilly, Seandun, Avondhu etc who can’t represent Cork in the Munster.

Donie Ryan will win it on his own for the bouncers. I’d give Kilmallock a decent chance in the other game.

You were always trying to pull off multiple team accums Carryharry on afr. Very rarely worked too. Just pick two/three decent bets and double your stake.

If the colleges are considered clubs, then how can their players play with their home clubs?
