Both of the Duffys are horrible creatures. What you need down there is a Kinsella or a Deegan.

Refereeing is without doubt, the biggest problem in Gaelic Football.
there is a lot of shit referees out there but in fairness to them it is hard to referee a sport that has no defined tackle…

To be fair, you did rate McEneaney very highly so its hard to take that serious.
Joe McQuillan can’t ref every game, lads.
There is a defined tackle but people choose to ignore it. If referees were to call every foul in Gaelic Football there’d be outrage. The 4 step rule is another one that is rarely enforced.
I think if they refereed by the book for a while the game would be a whole lot better.

That the erroneous notion that there is no tackle in Gaelic football has gained such currency shows up the poor media analysis of the game.

Deegan was a disgrace last year. Just co you may know him does not mean you can’t be analytically critical of him.
The problem with refereeing is one, no money in it, two they have an insular “us against the world” attitude between themselves. Even the way they coach refereeing encourages controversy and a lack of common sense.
The fact that alot of them at local level don’t even know the rules makes it a complete joke. They are a total embarrassment.
Let’s make a list of good Gaelic football referees, past and present.
