The Official Challenge Match Circuit Thread - BOICMC

I hate the whole three ‘thirds’ concept.

The last third always ends up a farce. Almost like a new game in itself.

The annual Imokilly v Ballygunner challenge match is on Monday June 22nd this year. That has become a modern day, de facto ‘opening ceremony’ to the official Club Season in this split season era.

It’s a pointless concept and primarily designed for paid outside coaches to be seen waffling during the breaks.

If there’s a wind, one team ends up playing against it for two-thirds of the game. Teams are barely given time to settle before being rejigged and it will never be replicated in a competitive game situation. A nonsense.

The Leinster Club Champions one week and All Ireland Club Champions the next.

Not many clubs in the country have the sort of currency in the market to be getting those sort of games.

Ballygunner playing Mount Sion in a league final Saturday. Be interesting to see which game the A players play.

Clare hammered Offaly in an open doors BOICMC in Birr last night.

@StoneCold will be left disappointed if its only the dirt trackers/domestiques lining out on Sunday.

I’ll hardly travel. It looks like I’m heading to the Marbella of the Mid West, i.e. Lahinch, to take advantage of the forecasted nice weather
