Southgate made a bit of a show of himself there.
What did Coach Southgate have to say? I doubt he has made half the show of himself that Stokes and Baz have these past few days.
He said itâs nice to have an English team representing England. Controversial enough
He was acting the arse in the crowd as self appointed head of the Barmy Army.
He wouldnât have too many friends in Birmingham the gobshite
How is this England team saving test cricket? This Bazball nonsense is an affront to test cricket. They picked a part time wicketkeeper whoâs little better than club standard with the gloves, a half fit all rounder captain who could only bowl sparingly, a 40 year seamer whoâs been crocked with injury all year and had bowling figures of 1 for 109 and a 37 spinner brought out of 2 year test retirement about 2 weeks ago and who gets injured and canât bowl on Day 5.
Throwing away wickets batting in 20/20 mode, a wicketkeeper who couldnât catch Covid, dropped coaches everywhere and a bowling attack so toothless it couldnât skittle a few Australian tailenders on Day 5 who were able to knock off a 9th wicket match winning stand of 55.
Thatâs the 2nd time in the last 3 tests that England have declared with only 8 wickets down in the first innings and lost.
the scum of the cricket world
Reminds me of someone
Weâve won the toss and elected to bowl.
Josh Tongue for Moeen Ali the only change from Edgbaston. An all pace attack. No recognised spinner and no recognised wicket keeper.
Mitchell Starc for Boland only Australia change.
The only thing heâll catch all week etc etc
Australia 32/0 after 14 overs after England put them into bat. Itâs a bit like declaring 393/8 on Day 1. When youâre putting in the opposition to bat, you need to be picking up wickets to justify it.
73/1. Tongue picks up a much needed wicket on the stroke of lunch as Khawaja ill advisedly leaves one that nips back in.
Bazball not going so well today 190/2 Australia after England deciding to bowl.
Tongue in Groove
With much of the focus at Edgbaston on Bazball style batting, throwing away wickets, idiotic declarations and hapless wicketkeeping, it got a bit overlooked how poorly England bowled for long stretches particularly on Day 5. England bowling has been awful today.
Australia 5/333
Australia all out for 416. England would have taken at 316/3.
Now for the Bazball stuff. England will probably be on about 130/6 at tea but clipping along at 5 an over.
Here we go.
What a treat to be working from home during an Ashes series.
