England lead by 9 runs in the test match against the World Test Champions after the first innings are completed.

23 wickets down before lunch of day 2. What shambles of a pitch have they laid at the home of cricket?

A 152 stand and counting for the 5th New Zealand wicket. The pitch is just fine and the wicket is flattening out like it always does on Day 2 at headquarters.

A magnificent 5 wicket win for England over the World Test Champions, New Zealand. An unbeaten 115 from Joe Root to steer us home.

Great start for captain stokes

Poor oul Joe Root shares more than a first name with Joe Canning.

England going for desperation early as they bring on a spinner in Trent Bridge on a Day 1 morning session.

Thanks to @Bandage for pointing out that it was in fact New Zealand who were 2/108 at lunch.

The Black Caps have since moved on to 3/162

Two quick England wicket and New Zealand are 155/4, a lead of 124.

@ChairmanDan

Looks like racism is going to overshadow a test victory for England vs India.

This follows on from the unruly scenes nobody wanted to see at the New Zealand test match.

Pal, how is this a 5th test versus India? Was it covid delayed or something? Were they not playing New Zealand in a series the other week?

Covid delayed from last September. India had a big outbreak of Covid in their camp.

I see @ChairmanDan has fielded this question already mate.

Sounded like a fairly lacklustre England batting performance on Day 1 of the first test of the three test series against South Africa at Lord’s.

England 116/6 at stumps on a rain affected first day. Ollie Pope with some much needed runs on 61 not out.

My bessier Canadian Paul has no idea about cricket. He is entertaining 4 (four) Germans on a corporate jolly at lord’s tomorrow though. He was asking me the rules this morning. He’s a bit anxious. I explained that you can’t see the ball anyway, and it’s four Germans at an all day drinking session. They’ll absolutely love it.

Humbling innings defeat for the Poms. They need to get rid of this McCullum hipster and get a proper gritty Yorkshireman in pronto.

A chastening defeat after a run of good wins early in the summer. Let’s see how the series plays out. The batting problems have not gone away, particularly at the top of the order.

I heard somewhere recently that only one batsman first picked since 2014 averages more than thirty.
