Missed stumping, wicketkeeper dropped catch and a no ball wicket very expensive on a dead pitch.
That declaration yesterday looking more and more foolhardy as I said at the time. Could well have got another 40-50 runs.

Another catch missed by Bairstow. A much more difficult one than the two routine ones he fluffed earlier but you’d suspect a top class wicketkeeper would have got it.

Bairstow scored 78 runs. I don’t have the number but I’d suspect he’s given away close to 100 with his missed stumping and two dropped catches. Carey the Australian wicketkeeper got three catches and two stumpings in England’s first innings. You always select your best wicketkeeper in test cricket, not some part timer.
This is the Ashes. The serious stuff. The excesses of Bazball need to be reined in.
