No splitting the G there
Delicately poised in Nottingham on Day 3 of the 2nd test at Trent Bridge
England 416 & 14/1
Windies 457
A 71 run 10th wicket partnership between Joshua de Silva and Shamar Joseph to eek out a 41 run first innings lead was tremendous entertainment.
Thatās desperately sad news about Graham Thorpe at his inquest.
I didnāt realise heād died by suicide until I read Michael Athertonās piece in The Times yesterday. I was aware heād suffered with depression but when it was reported a couple of years back he wouldnāt be taking up some coaching role or other due to illness, for whatever reason I assumed it was a separate illness. It seems he was gripped by severe mental illness over his last years. Very sad stuff alright. RIP.
Pakistan batting themselves into a good position on the first day of the first test in Multan. 284/3.
Day 4 in Multan. Pakistan 556 England 777/4
Harry Brook has just brought up his treble century. 305 not out.
Joe Root broke Sir Alistair Cookās record for test runs yesterday. Speculation now is if he can break Tendulkars world record in the next 3-4 years.
Brook falls on 317. 797/6
heāll definitely replace punter at 2, not sure if heāll catch sachin
A real resolute batting effort from Pakistan. 109/6
Looking like a seismic victory for England akin to the triumph in Rawalpindi a few years back
An innings victory most probably after conceding 556 runs first innings. The world is gone mad.
Some of those sub-continent wickets can be very funny. Completely flat and docile for 3 and 4 days, then suddenly come to life and start to turn towards the later end of the test.
A vindication for Bazball - scoring 50% runs in the same amount of overs.
Pakistan are at a very low ebb. Bazball is fine against that level of opposition.
Scores are level in the 3rd and deciding test in Rawalpindi.
England 267 Pakistan 267/8
Root departs. 91/7. A dismal batting collapse from England and Pakistan surely have the test and series won now.
Pakistan win by 9 wickets. Some turnaround about the humiliation in the first test
The first test was a featherbed of a wicket. Once it was turning on dryer wickets, like it was in Test 2 and 3, the bazballers havenāt the patience or the aptitude to play against spin. The England spin bowlers arenāt very good either.
As Iāve said before, England arenāt half as good as they think they are.
We all know that. Bazball is just a gimmick to mask deficiencies.
