As this seems to be a generic rugby thread, it’s probably a good place to discuss Ireland U20’s, good to see them doing the job against Fiji on TG4 right now.
Sweetnam has now gone over for a try to make it Ireland 44-3
Here’s a thing. I turned on the telly on Saturday and there was France (who finished second last in the Six Nations) playing New Zealand, who are World Champions as part of a three test series. They seemed to manage to make it over to New Zealand without any of the horse shit that goes on around the Combined British Isles team and were giving the famed All Blacks plenty of it.
Similarly over on another channel little Italy were putting it up to South Africa.

South Africa and New Zealand do not get risen quite as much for encounters with Italy and France as they do for the Empire Fagan. When the Empire rolls up to your doorstep, you arent taking on an entity such as “France” or “Italy”, you are taking on BRITAIN.

There are tours every year between countries. What makes the lions a little more noteworthy is the fact it’s only every four years and the novelty of the team selection etc. That and BSkyB!

Not a thing
I know that. But all this shite about warriors would give you the pip. Sure each of Wales, England and Ireland would beat Australia on their own.
I remember tuning into ITV with my dad and rocko to watch Lions in New Zealand in 1993. Certainly seemed like a big deal at the time.
Series is far from a foregone conclusion, given Lions recent record in test series. Bookies could hardly split them til recently.
I wouldn’t fancy ireland/england/Wales to win a test series down there. Also Australia much more pumped up playing Lions.
All that said I’m confident Lions will win it!
I see a lad from Galway attacked Quade Cooper after the game
Zeno was fat at underage and didn’t play a huge amount of representative games. He was still playing hurling an football at 18-19. I don’t think he was taking life seriously, not to mind rugby.
It is a bit red tinted to be starting him. I hope he plays nothing and just has a nice relaxing trip with a few training sessions thrown in.

According to ROG and Galvin on the tweet maching he’s only going out there to ride birds. Is a bit of a jockey?
Fa suar.
Wouldn’t you be at his age an profile?
The Lions are -76 on the handicap for this mornings game!
Very strong team named for Saturday, 1 to 10 excluding Youngs look to be on the test team. Maitland has a real chance now to get Cuthberts jersey. Happy for Zebo, a great Saturday and you never know. Kearneys chance is gone now.
I’m compelled to watch some of this to provide an analysis for Raymond Crotty who can’t see it. Evidently he doesn’t trust Anto to provide a balanced analysis.
Paul Wallace is the most infuriating person to ever walk the face of this earth. He’s perfect for Sky’s appalling rugby punditry team.
Terrific inside pass from Sexton there.
Zebo should have finished that really.
Yes, poor from Zebo. Not ready for this level
Good series of tackles and then am excellent kick chase from Halfpenny created that. Very simple try once they put width on their counter but good awareness from Davies.
