The Official Irish Times Best Places to Holiday in Ireland Thread

I’m going there on a stag next month. Is the whole place a rip off? A cosy cartel? Or are there decent options within the place?

Decent options too… Place will be full of stages/hens etc.

It fits well within the budget of business men like us pal. Don’t mind kp he is a hard up family man.

Westport is a fine spot and no more a rip-off than anywhere else.

Sound ould crowd up there as well.

I’m on business you young pup.

Hotel room at least 20% more expensive than its equivalent in Dublin.

The seafood is more than decent though. Great feed there in the Portamore so not all bad.

There is also a couple of decent bars to be fair. Stayed there on three occasions last year. Didn’t notice the hotels being that bad.

Yeah its grand but you can see the effect of receivers running hotels everywhere these days on the west coast… No proper investment and places starting to look shoddy after a stagnant 6 years.

You went on a midweek break to Liffey valley. I needn’t say more than that.

Clamped.

I did get to see Quarryvale though.

4 nights 620 euro (B&B basis) so will go with that

Kellys is booked out though so somebody paying those prices[/QUOTE]
In case some of you were looking forward to seeing me in Wexford I have some rather unfortunate news

I have cancelled Amber Springs after some off board feed back

I am now going to the Radisson in Galway

Is that this weekend?

Only a sick bastard would go to Gorey for the weekend. Good decision to cancel, @TheUlteriorMotive.

No. Not until June - with the kids.

Might take a trip out to Connemara one of the days to show them where they come from but I will avoid the nudist beach at Dogs Bay.

Phew. I’m staying there this weekend.

Good to know.

Update for anybody who may be interested

Family Room in the Radisson hotel in Galway is very good value - double room adjoining a twin room so the kids have their own room, bathroom, tv etc - paying no more than I would expect to pay for one room

Where would i go for a couple of days in Waterford next month, Fagan?

Dunmore.

Climate change/global warming (based on the admittedly shaky science of two years of good summers) is a good thing for those who wish to spend their tourist money in Ireland. Connemara in the sun is a great destination
