The referee had a shocking game supposedly…
shocker, disallowed 4 clare goals…
All this Kilkenny team need is an impartial ref. Kilkenny for Sam 09.
Good to see London winning a match at the weekend, hopefully this can be used as a source of motivation and inspiration for the kilkenny footballers
Great win for London in fairness, Waterford had been flying.
How can Kilkenny be that bad though in fairness?
Surely for a county that is a reasonable size and has a reasonable population they could manage to get a few footballers out of somewhere. It’s not as if it is a hard skill to pick up - unlike hurling for instance.
Wouldn’t send them to the Pres, or CBC for that matter. East is East
Christ no, do you think I’m made of money??
If there is a bit of hurling in them off to the Midleton CBS Locke, good teachers and hurling people there from what i hear.

My guess is that its the structures etc. The CB don’t care and the club championship is a joke. They’d probably improve if they played a few of their senior clubs in the Waterford or Tipp leagues. From what i understand from people who have seen KK senior football club games is that its about the same standard as Junior or maybe Intermediate in other counties. Big step up then to play Inter County.
Where would be sense in a hurling club putting effort into promoting football? Why would you help your competition, and lets face it, that’s what the other code really is. Kilkenny get hung out to dry over the football but most counties in the country have the exact same attitude towards hurling. Separate boards are the answer, provided the weaker board is well funded by HQ.
Things like this project show why Tyrone are one of the best around…When was the last time you heard of unrest in the Tyrone county board

Work began on the new Tyrone Centre of Excellence at Garvaghey, Ballygawley yesterday following the official cutting of the sod. Attending the event were County Board Chairman Pat Darcy, Tyrone Senior Football Manager Mickey Harte, Ulster Council President Tom Daly, Ulster Council Secretary Danny Murphy as well as the main contractors Patrick and Martin McWilliams.
Facilities at the Centre will include:
- 6 x GAA size floodlit pitches including one main pitch with floodlights, 250/300 lux.
- 1 x 3G artificial surface full size playing pitch with floodlights, 250/300 lux.
- Video Tower accessible to at least two pitches
- Adequate Car Parking within Complex
- Medical / First Aid / Sports Injury Room with Defibrillator
- Referees / Officials Room
- Administration Block
- County Archive / Museum
- Kitchen / Canteen / Laundry Room
- Hurling / Camogie / Football / Handball Alley/Wall
- Peripheral Walking Trail and Environmental / Conservation Area (Available to Local Community and Schools)
They are on a different level Puke, no doubting that.
In terms of education Midleton CBS is terrible, about 2 good teachers there, and the building/facilities are terrible.
They have an excellent hurling team and history, but thats literally the one and only redeeming quality of the place. The tech is worse, the college is probably the best male secondary school in Midleton.
For boys, Glanmire, somewhere in Youghal or a private/fee paying school (I went to Hewitt on St. Patricks Hill for two years, decent enough) would be best, loads of good female secondary schools around.
Centre of Excellence also been built outside Ferns for Wexford Gaa Development… not sure if it had started yet… it was orginally to be built in Glenbrien but the lands there have been sold

Everything goes into hurling. Le Fin
Its not like there aren’t good young lads out there. Two very good Kilkenny lads played with the Good Council team that lost the leinster football final and another lad played with the Wexford Vocational football team that won the all ireland against Kerry last week
