1-0 up, gents.
not any more pal
welcome to the big leagues lads
It’s not a league, it’s a knockout cup competition.
Glad we got that out of the way and can get on with the business at hand now.

THE POSITIVES
Ben Osborn - outstanding again. I’ve yet to see him play a bad game for us. He’s so positive and cool on the ball. Pearce can’t ignore him much longer for a starting berth.
Jorge Grant - while clearly not as talented as Osborn, he did fine on his debut. Knew to be in the right place at the right time to stick the ball in the net. Will do his confidence wonders.
Kelvin Wilson. Outstanding again and another 90 minutes completed without issue tonight as he continues his return from injury. Likewise for Vaughan - not sure why he was subbed at HT though.
Lars Weldweijk. Not a great first half (needed more support) but an improved second half from a guy who’s not seen many minutes on the pitch. Held the ball better and set up the goal. Like Soldado, this guy clearly needs someone to play off him. It was valuable playing time for big Lars anyway which can only do him good.
Stephen McLaughlin - the Donegal man needed game time and did little wrong.
Dexter Blackstock - great to see the B Man back on the pitch. If only for 10 minutes. Been a long time coming.
No injuries - given that it’s Forest, that is indeed a massive positive from the game.
THE NEGATIVES
Jamaal Lascelles - while JL played well for the most part, a couple of errors cost us. He needs to have a better understanding of how the defensive line works, needed to step out for the third goal, if he does then Kane is offside. If you were being picky you could also blame him for playing Soldado onside for the second goal. He is definitely our fourth choice centre half behind Mancienne, Hobbs and Wilson. The money we got from Newcastle for Lascelles is looking a more shrewd bit of business by Fawaz with each passing day.
Danny Fox & Jamie Paterson - both seemed intent on giving the ball to the opposition at every opportunity. Fox played way too much football in our third of the field, very lucky not to concede a penalty. Paterson was continually robbed in possession or chose the wrong pass all night.
Dorus De Vries - having watched the first Spurs goal back several times, I think De Vries could have done better. The ball was in the air a long time, it didn’t swerve. It didn’t take him by surprise. Yet he seems to almost dive backwards as it went past him. He cost us the equaliser tonight, and maybe the game. He did likewise against Sheff Utd in the FA Cup last February. Is his lack of game time affecting him that much?
That’s a decent enough summation. It was only the milk cup though.
Who gives a flying fook?
COYR:pint:
What position does McLaughlin play, chaps?
He generally operates on the left wing Colin. Make or break season for the lad but he’s been getting opportunities under Pearce ahead of Paterson so he clearly rates him. Looked alright last night, nice and composed on the ball
Has Paterson not got more playing time than McLaughlin this season though. In the league anyway…
In any case, 3 points on Saturday against Brighton - nobody will remember last night. And Pearce will be a genius.
CARDIFF V FOREST: MATCH PREVIEW
Forest face a tricky test, in front of the Sky Cameras, in the Welsh capital for the their first game after the international break. Russell Slade takes the helm for his first game in charge of The Bluebirds, looking to upset Stuart Pearce’s 2nd placed Reds
Russell Slade: “Forest are a really strong unit - they dig in for each other & theyre quite hard to beat. They haven
t lost yet, but nobody is invincible. We`ll be looking to undo Forest in what I think will be a battle, and a very tight game.”
Forest’s Captain, Michael Mancienne, was quoted on Forest’s official site:
“Its going to be a real test. They
re going to give everything they can to impress the manager, better their position in the table and to take our unbeaten record away from us.”
Cardiff City Team News:
Matt Connolly & Ben Turner are both expected to miss out through injury - whilst the likes of Ecuele Manga, Kenwyne Jones and Anthony Pilkington will be assessed after their international exploits.
Player to watch: Russell Slade
Cardiff have a strong squad, with Kenwyne Jones as their top scorer (5 goals) and a wealth of experience but more often than not - it is the new manager that has the greatest impact in his first game.
Nottingham Forest Team News:
Forest will be without long term absentees, Chris Cohen, Jack Hobbs and Andy Reid.
David Vaughan, Dexter Blackstock and Kelvin Wilson will all want to be involved after their respective injuries/illness and are expected to travel.
Player to watch: Henri Lansbury
The midfield battle could be crucial and Forest’s talismanic midfielder certainly has the quality to put his stamp on the game.
Injury has hampered his progress so far, but the last 20 minutes against Ipswich saw the Henri we know and let’s hope he reproduces that form for the full 90 on Saturday!
Match Facts & Stats
Cardiff have just 1 win from their last 8 games in all competitions; including only 1 win and 3 defeats from the last 4 at home.
Forest may still be unbeaten in their 11 Championship games, but they have drawn their last 4 league outings.
Ref Watch:
Mike Jones is the man in the middle for this one. This is only his 7th game in charge this season, during the previous 6, he’s handed out 6 yellow and just the 1 red card.
Match Prediction:
Cardiff are just about edging it in the eyes of the Bookies, but another draw would seem a fair shout - the nipper’s pocket money goes on 1-1.
Next Fixtures:
The Championship action comes thick and fast as Forest face another away day against Watford on Tuesday 21st October, with a 7-45 pm kick off.

And no, he doesn’t, I do wonder how he sleeps at night given how he’s stolen a living all his life.

Reid plays for Forest, not Notts.
And he’s injured. Now don’t ask again.
As did mighty Rotherham your lot

I think you’ll find the fat fuck doesnt play pal. That’s the problem.
Birtles and his pals will probably still vote him POTY for that assist in August. He’s basically stealing a living and they idolise him. Gas.
