The Official, Right & Honourable FA Cup Thread - 2014 Edition

Nothing quite like Round 3 weekend. The FA Cup is still where its at for English Football. Last years defeated finalists Manchester City are away to minnows Blackburn Rovers who will be hoping to cause an upset no doubt. Tie of the round no doubt is the meeting of Arsenal and Spurs, free to air on ITV this evening.

Oh the glory…

The opening day of Lakeside and the 3rd round of the Cup. Today is the best sporting day of the year, bar none.

Two of the most venerated competitions in world sport, often copied, never EVER equalled.

There is no substitute for the original and best.

memories of january 1990 here at ewood park as second divison blackburn were holding (i think) first division liverpool in the third round on a stormy day, the ball boy infamously providing the assist for a quick throw in injury time…
@Sidney i need you here man

corner for city 90+1
the tension

January 1991. Mark Atkins put into his own net deep in injury time.

Disappointing not to see City come out with the win there, but thats the beauty of the cup. Did Rhodes (sp) play?

Vermaelan starts at centre half for Arsenal and Fabianski in goals. I expect Spurs to get a result here

Awful defending from Koscielny.

Fabianski did well there to save from Eriksen.

Villa are a joke of a club

More really slack play from Koscielny, he always looks like he has a couple of mistakes in him and you can’t afford to make mistakes against Tiger Tim Sherwood’s teams.

Great result for the Blades.

Good start for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Cardiff winning 2-1 at Newcastle.

Rochdale humbling European Cup finalists Leeds is a sensational result.

Thomas Vermaelen. Good God. He will see red in this game.

Nice open game of football so far with a decent tempo to it. Neither sides centre halves have looked convincing so far

Did Paul Lambert say he didn’t want to win this match and it was a distraction or something to that effect?

What about the magic of the FA Cup?

Surely better than the magic of a relegation battle Villa will be facing

Santi comes late this Christmas

Spurs overrun in midfield and the lively Gnabry plays in Carzola to put Arsenal one up
