Samir Nasri is back

Beautiful move.

Like an empty tin of pear halves.

would cup holders wigan beating cardiff be considered a shock?

massive game today as Forest meet Sheffield United, delighted to see former Forest legend and all round good guy Nigel Clough progress to this huge stage, There is a great cup tradition with these sides (well Utd have a 1993 semi final against wednesday in a campaign inspired by the prolific Jostein Flo) and Forest have a glorious cup history, their 1988 Littlewoods cup victory where they beat Luton Town 3-2 the same day as Tipperary beat Offaly in the NHL final is a standout memory, could have been 1989 actually…
cant wait for this, also my 100/1 bet on Forest for the cup is still in play

forest vs utd is a decent rivalry in English football, dating back to the time of the miners strike, Sheff Utd fans took a lot of stick of the Forest fans for being on strike but funnily enough the forest fans shat it in the town after

"Steve Bruce tells about going to the toilet during one function years ago and, mid-flow, taking an almighty whack to the back. Bruce ended up getting soaked in the urinals. “That, young man, is for all the times you kicked my Nigel,” came that familiar nasal voice. “Now, carry on.”

Steve Bruce covered in his own piss, just one more reason, as if it were needed, why Brian Clough is the greatest manager of all time

There was also the infamous playoff encounter between these 2 in 03 when after a 1-1 draw at the City Ground Forest were 2 up at Bramall Lane(Andy Reid and David Johnson) before going on to lose 4-3. That game is also remembered for Des Walker scoring only his 2nd ever(Forest) career OG(the other being in the 92 FA Cup Final) and more solemnly as the keynote fixture which ushered in the lowest point in the clubs history and precipitated the crippling malaise from which we are still trying to escape from really.

If Forest had won that they might well have gone up(Utd beat Wolves in the playoff Final), and the post Clough turmoil that overcame the club seen merely as a natural enough blip. Instead though, Paul Hart got the sack, Reid and Dawson(and anyone else with genuine quality) got sold, Joe Kinnear came in and and left us languishing at the foot of the league the next season before Gary Megson came in and finished the job for him and we got relegated to Div 3.

North is destroying South in this year’s competition. Quite possible that all eight teams in the sixth round could be Northern teams.

hopefully the semi finals will be played at Villa Park and Hillsborough this year, their spiritual homes.

I’ve great memories of the Blades’ cup run in '93 - I was a tremendous fan of Harry Bassett’s crazy gang at that time and am still a general Blades well-wisher. I spent the week of the glamour, live BBC1 Sunday afternoon fifth-round tie winding up Manchester United supporters in my class (who were supporting Liverpool two years earlier) that we’d beat them. How they laughed. They weren’t laughing on the Monday morning when Glyn Hodges and Jamie Hoyland had dumped them out, in what was our second win over them at the Lane that season - we also beat them in the first game of the season when Brian Deane scored the first ever FA Premier League goal.

Alan Kelly was the hero in the quarter-final replay against Blackburn when he saved Jason Wilcox’s penalty, as he would also be against Coventry at the same stage five years’ later.

The semi-final defeat to the scum at Wembley was a bitter pill to swallow, although Corky’s goal is a pleasant memory.

Great characters at United at that time - Harry’s Christmas Party before the start of the season was tremendously funny, and Corky’s vow not to shave until we were knocked out of the Cup proved a lucky charm.

We’re going to set fire to the Forest today.

Has ever an FA cup tie been so eagerly anticipated as todays 5th round clash between the sleeping giants of Seffiield and Nottingham? The answer is Hell no. I have a profound affection for Nigel Clough (no homo) and wished him all the best on some thread on here when he got the Blades gig but I fear for his spiritual and emotional welfare today.
Alas Im off to the Stadium to watch the hurling but the plan is not to get side-tracked and hopefully be back in time to get the 2nd half of this on some dodgy stream, if anyone finds one, throw it up
