Another person here who wasn’t cool enough to smoke it seems.
One in five Irish men smoke. One in six Irish women smoke. Very disappointing.
The experts are saying if you smoked and got the corona virus bad you basically had no chance of surviving.
Quit on the 27th Jun 2014, never looked back

I read somewhere else that smokers had a better chance of avoiding the severest symptoms because their lungs had built up some sort of resistance that non smokers didn’t have.
The lungs are so full of shit that the virus cant attack them properly. Although I’d say once it did make it’s way in, a lad could be in a bit of bother
There was a thing in France that even though 25% of French people smoke, only 5% of Covid hospitalizations were smokers.
All a bit baffling.
No, that’s not what the experts are saying, not even a little bit. In France they are doing a clinical trial where they give patients nicotine patches as treatment, such was the underrepresentation of smokers in the stats they are wondering if smoking somehow prevents you getting it, or at least reduces its symptoms

The other 20% were dead before they got to the hospital.
Anyway, I had my last smoke on 29 May 2015, so 5 years off them this week. Smoked 5 in Waterford golf club on the Mount Sion golf outing. Hadn’t played golf for 2 years since getting the first knee done so was fair fucking sore. Meant to stop at a shop on the way home to buy 20 but was actually too fucked to stop the car and get out. Crawled into the bed and when I awoke the longing was mystically gone. Never came back.
Over the course of a lifetime, I smoked Carrolls, Major, Rothmans, Benson and Hedges, Silk Cut Purple, Camel, Camel Light, Marlboro and finally Marlboro Light.

I got hooked on Marlboro lights in the states in the 80s and used to haunt tobacconists back here asking them when they were going to stock them. I’d say it was 1990 before they became available here.
