Hard enough to get a dinner anymore. The older generation of mammies would be mortified if they didn’t put on a big spread for the lads at the silage or shearing but the younger generation of wives are more likely now to land back with a ham roll from the deli the lazy cunts, which is a bad reflection on the husbands more so.I even see it when you’d be doing a bit of building for them, they wouldn’t even boil a kettle for ye nowadays.Changed times.
That’s disappointing to hear, I’ve witnessed the spread that my mother in law puts out for ‘the men’ and it’s a wonder they can get up from the table at all afterwards
Even when I was hauling grass in the late 90’s you’d be shit sick of cold meat salads too.
A fry or a roast bit of beef was like a Christmas dinner to you.
Poor fare. The mother would often do a roast dinner in the morning and then head to work and have it left there for the father to heat up . She’d be around these days so it would usually be a fry up, some spuds and chips, some salad, maybe a few chops , and whatever else was going round the place. Apple tart afterwards of course. Evening drawing would end with a box of beers brought out .
