The Official TFK Father's Issues Thread. I don't know how they do it

What a clamping.

I’d hate to disappoint you pal. Back for the club champ semi?

Naw, I’ll wait for the final.

:smirk: you’ll be waiting

True. If the U21 AI goes to a replay there is a possibility club games will be put back alright.

the granny’s lab’s legs are gone - will have to be put down next week (i remember him arriving as a pup :worried:) my lad who is 6 is close to the dog.

Do you tell him before or after the deed? young lad will be gutted, as are we all.

I say before, but I don’t have any parenting experience.

Let him say goodbye to the dog

Definitely. It might help keep away the sleepless nights as well.

Put a letter on his pillow telling him about it.

Let the kid pull the trigger?

Beat me to it

It’ll be character building.

An inlaws kid was staying in same house as me and one day at one of those petting zoos (kid about ten or so) suffocate a chicken in his hands, deliberately and then laugh

Slept with a chair against the door that night

At 6 he can handle it. We had to break the news of one of the family pets getting creamed by the car on the main road to our then 3 year old…explained he died because he was playing on the road. Can’t lie to them - it’ll bite you on the ass down the road.

Brilliant post.

@TheUlteriorMotive - consider telling the kid that it’s his job to help granny find a new dog. If granny doesn’t want a new dog, it’s your duty to get the kid a dog. Young lads need to have a mutt.

We’re getting a dog ourselves and granny has a second younger dog

Sorted. Good man. I hope you hit the rescue shelters - plenty of good mutts with lots to give in those places.

Looking at dogs who failed the guide dog test
First dog as a family so reluctant to do the shelter dog yet

Great idea - we went down a similar route, but went with the shelter dog in the end. Very chilled out fella - just knew once we saw him. Dogs either side barking and howling. He was happy out, licking his balls.

That’s pretty hardcore. Watch that space. Deriving enjoyment from killing animals is a common precursor for murdererous tendencies in adulthood.
