Proud weekend for Limerick. An Oscar last night and in a example to us all, some Limerick and Dublin young wans have joined together to represent Ireland in the Eurovision

which one of these fillys are from limerick george? is it the leggy one out front?

No, the rest of em I think.

Late Late Show on Friday had Marty Whelan, Jerry Springer & a fresh-ish looking Linda Martin passing judgement on the acts. I assume Jerry will be firing his agent when he gets home, although himself and Linda did seem to be getting a bit frisky.

we’ll take that!

I fancy the Book Thief to win the award for best original soundtrack. John Williams 49th nomination

The only caveat is that the fantastic Thomas Newman has been nominated 12 times and never won.

Gravity wins for Steven Price! Newman left at the altar again.

In other news U2 don’t win. Beaten by Frozen. Sweet. And what a relief to the billions of viewers that they weren’t subjected to a victory speech by these cunts.

The Oscars are a load of oul bollox. Self congratulation for a load of jumped up cunts-patting each other on the back for how great they are. Fuck off and die all of them.

The Wolf of Wall Street doesn’t win a single Oscar.

Margot Robbie went dark for the occassion.

How disappointing. I thought this thread was about Pistorius putting together a schizophrenia defence.

Hey @Rintintin - who won most votes in the category of best male actor at the first oscars?

Emil Jannings

Well if wiki can be trusted.

Wrong. Rintintin won the most votes. But was disqualified, because he was, well, a dog.

It’s like the punting threads on here

When she was in Pan Am I had the feeling she was an Aeroplane blonde alright.

@artfoley and I were discussing the Oscars last night in another thread but this one is more appropriate.

Birdman is gone into strong favoritism for best picture, leap-frogging Boyhood which was favourite for a long time. I was going to punt Birdman to have a bit of interest and stay up to watch it tonight but will look for another angle. Keaton at 10/3 for best actor perhaps?

Just realised Patricia Arquette, the mother of the lad in Boyhood, is the same actress who starred in True Romance alongside Jonny Depp all those years ago. She hasn’t aged well in the meantime, i recall her having a smoking hot body back then. :frowning:

Id be shocked if keaton doesnt win as i will if linklater doesnt win for boyhood. Boyhood deserves recognition for the fantastic concept, but loses marks for putting slackers/ before sunrise dialogue into the mouths of babes

I’ve backed Linklater for best director at 11/10. And also a speculative punt on Bradley Cooper at 16/1 for best actor as it very often goes to sad/sympathetic character (refer to Tom Hanks in Philadelphia, Sean Penn in Mystic River and again in Milk, McConaghey for Dallas Buyers Club). Though you could say the chap playing Stephen Hawking is a more sympathetic character but at 1/5 v 16/1 i know which i prefer to back. Also Cooper has been nominated now for the third year running in best actor or supporting actor category so possibly gets some points for that.
