Apologies @Cheasty

No, I do think Zidane was overrated compared to what heā€™s written up to be. Brilliant at his best, but too fleeting and quite inconsistent at club level.

Ah jaysus

Apologies @neilld

Ya.

Jude Bellingham is already on 12 league goals for Real Madrid this season. The only time Zidane reached double figures in a league season was when he scored 10 goals for Bordeaux in the Farmerā€™s League in 1992/93.

Bellingham is playing in an era where the best teams are basically stockpiling all the best talent though. More so than ever before. You wouldnā€™t get a David May at Man City now like. Loads of great old European clubs are totally decimated.

Zidane played at Juventus and Real Madrid who stockpiled the best talent.

Donā€™t think its to the degree it is now though, France, Germany same team wins the league every year. Spain, its Barca or Real. In Zidaneā€™s era, youā€™d brilliant Ajax, Valencia, Deportivo, Marseille teams et cetera, that is all gone. The top clubs all have 23 players of a similarish standard imo. It was much more egalitarian. Youā€™d see brilliant guys all over Europe watching Champions League 20 to 25 years ago. Premier League money has fucked that really.

Stats wise, Eden Hazard is similar, but then youā€™d watch him play and he was the fulcrum of the whole team with every attack going through him.

I mean this sincerely now. Go away and boil your head. You too @FlakeAway

Zidane and Bergkamp were overrated. Fuck me

Heā€™d score 25 and assist 25 per season in the modern game. Quicker pitches, different ball, different reffing, VAR now, Heā€™d be chipping the ball onto fellas hands for fun every match.

KDB is considered one of the best in the world now and he wouldnā€™t have been let train with Zidane

He needs to rebrand as Kevin Kelleher and move to Burnley

Big different in athleticism, strength, first touch and dribbling in favour of Zidane there. KDB would be there with him on vision and ball striking for me. Zidane much the better big match temperament.

Great player KDB too though.

A scorer of great goals rather than a great scorer of goals. Not travelling to away games in Europe dented Arsenals Champions League hopes in the early 00ā€™s too.
