The Overrated Thread

I think I need to correct my timeline. On mature recollection, it was around 1998ish to 2004ish. Maybe 5th year in school through the college years & those tentative early steps into the world of audit. When my auld pair started to fuck off to Lanzarote & places on their own after the childer were reared. There’d be no mammy to make me dinner & it was in my childhood home at weekends & during holidays where I’d dabble with the salad & chips.

Ah deep fat fryers went into the early naughties at least.

The smell off the fucking things.

Can’t bate sausages and chips out of a fryer though.

Your aul pair fucking off for a holiday was well earned I’d say. Cherish them, good people I’d wager.

We used to have one out in the utility room definitely didn’t pass by 2000 at the latest. How fucking dangerous where they by pissed young lads in a student gaff

Flying to Seville last October an oul one beside me started rummaging in her handbag, extracted a tin foil package, opened it, egg sandwiches @Batigol I was like you can’t be serious, I literally pulled a mask from my back pocket and held my arm up against my nose for the remaining hour of the flight. There should be a law against that. Now I like eggs but in the appropriate environment.

We make egg sambos the very odd time for the 6 year old’s school lunch when we’ve been caught short of a grocery run. She was telling us over supper last week that one of the boys in her class said they smelled rotten. I told her if he says it again to tell him that his head is rotten. We all had a good laugh.

Top parenting right there.

Tuna, bit of sweetcorn, apple, red onions, red peppers all mixed up with some mayo is absolutely noble. A lovely topping for a baked potato

Tuna, mayo, red onion, cheese and egg … to make a cracking omelette. Unrale

We had one in a student gaff that sat on top of the washing machine in the utility/general dumping ground/damp room, this was well into the '00s if not early '10s. Everything went into it - chips, goujons, chicken fillet rolls, generous dustings of Persil, the works. The washing machine itself had a fine coating of grease on top for a finish.

He looked like a child trying to break tackles at times, still a good player in a more open game. Alan Connolly on the other hand is very lucky Cork don’t have much depth
