Anyone looking forward to this? If its anything as entertaining as Band of Brothers, we’re in for a good show.
This a a blurb from SKY Movies about it.
Back in 2001, HBO presented us with Band Of Brothers - the most riveting World War II saga ever to grace the small screen. But next Spring, they look set to surpass it with The Pacific, a colossal ten-part epic giving a troops’-eye view of the American response to Pearl Harbor.
Produced by Saving Private Ryan duo Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, it promises to be an unflinching and authentic account of the war in the Pacific, whilst delivering more action, drama and sheer spectacle than any other television event of 2010… or any other year.
Watch the trailer below and you’ll see what we mean. You might even be as excited as we are…
Because when it comes to the UK - at exactly the same time as it airs in the US - it’s coming exclusively to Sky Movies in glorious HD.
So keep your eye out for more details as they come ashore, as this is one boat you really won’t want to miss.
Decent first episode. Sets it up well. Characters aren’t as stand out as BOB, but I’m going to stop here now comparing it to BOB because thats just not fair to it.
Sets it up nicely so far, was surprised how quickly it went along.
Bodes well for remaining 9 hopefully. I expect it to take up more once we gain more of an afinity with the characters.
Set pieces were minimal first out, with the landings and the boats the stand outs. Impressive looking as you’d expect from HBO.
Watched this this evening, thanks to Turrens download. Has some potential alright, going to be very Band of Brothers ish i’d imagine, with the actual characters as well having their say every now and then. Nothing wrong with that.
There is something very honourable, strong and genuine about the Americans of that time, its sad to see the way their children have ruined that.
4 Episodes in, a decent stint to give it an evaluation on
Well its not BOB, but we knew that. What it is is a very decent account of a part of the war us in Europe may not be very aware of. I’ve enjoyed it a lot so far, with the last 2 episodes possibly being my favourite (but I get the feeling when I go back to watch the first two having had the extra character development I’ll get a whole lot more from them).
The Melbourne soujourn was my favourite so far, an interesting contrast between the horrific battles and the coming back to civilisation. This stands up very well to BOB so far and I can’t wait to see more of it.
I was watching band of brothers this morning. I’m just curious would people that train for the army now being treated like more professionally? Like with out sounding stupid would there be a sports science element to the training and physical prep? I can’t imagine running fellas that starving is a great idea.
You can push them out of a plane. You can march them off a cliff. You can send them off to die on some God forsaken rock. But for some reason, you can’t slap them. Now apologize to that boy right now.
