What was cause of death, mate? Itā€™ll be a sombre weekend in Wexford town after this devastating news.

It happened in a schooling race in Tipperary mate. Tipperary once again proving to be a graveyard for Wexford sports.

Have you got the video of the maiden hurdle he was meant to lose in fairyhouse Mac? Even the horse was too good for connections.

Poor ould Tom Doyle was never the same after that! Itā€™ll be up on ATR and Iā€™ll have a gander at it later. It was that race one of the Byrnes stablehands was burned for ā‚¬20k or something wasnā€™t it?

It sure was, they laid the bollox out of him on betfair at a price and Doyle couldnā€™t stop him. Byrnes almost hit him after the race in the parade ring. Cowboys and idiots that didnā€™t know the level of beast they were working with.

He was schooled alright.

I remember being told they entered him in a handicap to see what mark heā€™d have and he got something like 130, i.e thrown in. They decided to run him down the field to try and get him dropped another few lbs. Layed him on betfair etc and he won.

Might be the same race TTK but I thought it was a handicap as opposed to a maiden hurdle. Could be wrong though

They knew alright. 'Twas unfortunate that a more experienced jock than Tom managed to get him beat in woeful fog the next day out.

Was a handicap alright. Had already won a hurdle, and one in France prior to that. As well as a good run in the ceasearawitch! Was always a big ask for a decent mark

Btw, I have sympathy for the owners - one in a million horse.

But thereā€™ll be no condolences dished out to C Byrnes by me. Iā€™ve no time for trainers like that who donā€™t run horses on their merits each and every time they run

Isnā€™t your beast trained by Gordon ā€˜biggest fixer in Irelandā€™ Elliott?

They should just pull down those fences in The Juntion & set corn on that cunt of a field.
RIP Solwit. :frowning:

Ah here, there are many trainers who would be insulted to be considered lesser fixers than GE.

RIP Trading Leather. Sustained a fatal injury in the Japan Cup.

The irony of it all.

RIP Trading Leather

1996 Gold Cup winner Imperial Call

RIP Imperial Leather and Trading Call.

They will make fine leather jackets.

A belated R.I.P. to Teeton Mill. The dashing grey passed away a couple of weeks ago.
