The Prestigious Europa League 2014/2015 thread

Very impressed with Celtic last night. Played some lovely stuff, kept tempo high in possession and in with a good chance to go through if they can replicate

I’m usually a glass half full chap but can’t help but feel we’ve blown a huge opportunity to advance.

I was raging with Gordon for his reaction to a fairly straight forward save from the free kick at the end.

If it wasn’t for his calamitous first half, who knows…

Come on, pal. He was releasing some frustration by letting out a roar rather than celebrating the save. I’m sure he’s angry with himself for the mistakes.

This is wider/bigger than merely who progresses in the tie next week. We got a look at what Celtic is going to be like over the next few years. The Ronny Revolution is underway.

Spoken like a true member of the goalkeepers union mate.

Any word what was up with Stokes? Armstrong likely to miss the return now so Henderson is the likeliest to come in as he offers a little more in terms of defensive protection and energy. I thought Ambrose was utterly woeful in his brief cameo last night. Hope we’re not forced to have to use him next week.

Goalkeepers, the drummers of football.

What’s Armstrong’s injury?

Seemed to injure himself giving away a corner which is why I thought he came off.

Yeah, he seemed to jar his knee when he slid in. But he played on for 5-10 minutes after it. Was just wondering if there was definitive news on him but it seems to be more your intuition?

Ronny’s reaction:

Correct.

He went home to Dublin on Saturday after the game and didn’t make his flight home on Tuesday and missed training.

And was thus left out of the squad last night for disciplinary reasons.

The fucking idiot.

Inter must be shite.

Deila and Mackay-Steven press conference has just concluded.

Denayer is going to train tonight and should be fit after he went off injured at the weekend with cramp in his calf. Everyone else is fit. Forrest, Commons and Stokes all travelled.

I think it will be the same starting XI as last week.

The bench will be an interesting choice as I’d only expect two of Forrest, Stokes and Commons to make it. Given Stokes recent indiscretion I would expect he will be the guy to miss out.

I’d say it’s three of Forrest, Stokes, Commons and Scepovic. I think with Guidetti and Griffiths already in the squad then Scepovic might find his place is in trouble too. I think Forrest’s pace means he’ll be an option, Commons will certainly be one and so will Guidetti. Scepovic versus Stokes then. I’d probably prefer Stokes but Scepovic is a more obvious different option to the other strikers and he has the advantage of not pissing Deila off recently.

Presume the others are Zaluska, Ambrose and Henderson?

Denayer being fit will be important. Didn’t realise that Matthews couldn’t continue last week either - apparently he was struggling for 10 minutes before he came off. If Denayer couldn’t play then we’d be down to picking between Fisher or O’Connell presumably. Fisher would be better but we’d have no centre back cover on the bench and Ambrose starting would be a problem.

Yeah, forgot about Scepovic but think Guidetti and Griffiths in the squad, it would be a bit pointless there. Is Wakaso in the squad as well?
