The Prestigious Europa League 2014/2015 thread

Much improved, check that goal out at HT in the Celtic game, that video doesn’t do it justice, an outrageous strike!

Ball boys really struggle with the multi-ball system when we play in Europe.

That was decent from Scepovic teeing up Stokes. First time he’s shown a bit of presence on any of those crosses.

the skill levels of the Romanians is a joy to watch, between minutes 20 and 25 they played beautiful football, look at their composure on the ball, playerss effortlessly switching betweem feet, they way the midfield 2 hold position and shape, the composure of both center halves on the ball, all that is leaving them down is they are lightweight,
Brian kerr is superb in co-commentary, some decent facts there as well about Oleg Protasov and a great knowledge of the players on both sides.
I saw Padurii play in the 2013 priestergous Europa league in Tel Aviv and noted their skill level in the appropriate thread… good things will come for Romania soon , i guarantee you that…
Scott Brown… what a mug he looks, like a roaster chasing fellas with his head down
Balkan footballers:clap:

Stokes was terrible there. He didn’t strike that cleanly and should have buried it.

Eh 20-25 minutes was Celtic’s best spell of the match mate.

The RHS of Celtics defense is very poor lads

whenever the Romanians had the 3 chances, the highlight being the cross form the LHS with the outside of the boot and when the celtic defense was mugged off with the same combo and the jap missed an opener

Craig Gordon is playing very well tho… Celtic legend

i didnt think Celtic had a decent spell … apart from the lad nearly scoring an OG

you fucking mug, they had those chances between minutes 20-22… celtic didnt touch the ball apart from it bouncing off Gordon’s chest

McGregor has offered nothing again. He can’t hold onto the ball, he’s too predictable and he needs an awful lot of improving.

Scepovic and Stokes haven’t been much better but we need to give Scepovic a bit longer and the options on the bench aren’t extraordinarily appealing.

Brown definitely the pick of the midfielders. A few typically sloppy moments but he had a bit of energy about him at least. Virgil is the only defender showing anything. Denayer is all over the place. Lustig has hit a few nice crosses but his passing has been poor and he and Izzy are constantly caught up the pitch. Ronny keeps banging on about the full backs pushing forward but it’s cramping our wide attackers a little bit and the big problem is we have nobody capable of filling in for them. The centre backs look really poor when they’re dragged out wide and then we leave massive holes in the centre which no midfielder fills.

Despite all that, and despite their 3 chances, we should have done better with our chances for Scepovic and Stokes and a couple of our headers. These guys aren’t up to much at all. Then again, neither were Maribor or Hamilton etc.

23-25 we were really good though. Think we had a couple of corners.

yer man Coyle’s analysis was awful, didnt praise the Romanians, just said the only reason why they had chances was because Celtic are toxic at the back.,… that’s very unfair IMO, the football those lads are playing is very good, notwithstanding:clap: the calibre of the oppositon

Presume Mulgrew is meant to drop in between the centre backs when the full backs drive forward but he’s all over the place positionally.

Outrageous is the only word to describe it.

It gets the Scrunchie seal of approval

why in God’s name would he want to that? any clown would know he should sit in front of them in the circle , on edge ensuring to close off any breakaways that will be , yes you’ve guessed it , going down the wings… why the fuck woould he want to bunch the center halves?

I would Wakaso on for McGregor. Has Johansen touched the ball?

:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Because the centre backs are following the attackers out wide and it switches to a 3 at the back. He is just sitting in the midfield as you describe. It’s simple to bypass him when he’s there. It’s not that complicated. We’re just inept at it.
