The Prestigious Europa League 2019/2020 thread

Brown and Forrest are fit for Celticā€™s game tomorrow night but Ntcham is out for another 7-10 days.

Will Lennon go with 3 at the back and a front 2 of Edouard and Griffiths as has seen them win every Scottish game since the mid season break, or stick with the 4-2-3-1 from the first leg?

Terrific result for soccer in Scotland.

Iā€™m not sure what formation I want or expect. The Cluj home game was similarly poised and we basically tried to pick our best eleven players without enough regard for formation and structure. Iā€™d be inclined to go 4-2-3-1 even if that means leaving out Griffiths, on the basis of how we dominated the first half over there.

So

Forster

Frimpong Jullien Ajer Taylor?

Brown McGregor

Forrest Rogic Elyounoussi

Edouard

If we go 4-2-3-1 the only real consideration is whether Bitton starts in midfield somewhere but thatā€™s highly unlikely.
And are we expecting that a 3-5-2 would see Simunovic in for Elyounoussi and Griffiths for Frimpong?

Donā€™t think they have Fischer back for this leg so theyā€™ll likely be a similar lineup, but probably with that narrower second half midfield.

Outstanding result tonight for a club thatā€™s only around for 8 years or so

Wrong competition. Manchester City were actually playing in the Champions League.

UEFA beg to differ

Hopefully The Wizard starts.

Scotland potentially up to 13th in the coefficient rankings cc @mickee321.

Thought Elyounoyssi had a poor cameo last week and hasnā€™t looked match sharp since his return from injury. He might be inclined to play Forrest on the left and Christie on the right, like last week. Taylor should be fine to start having returned at the weekend and done well.

Christie is suspended though so I hope he doesnā€™t do that.

Elyounoussi hasnā€™t looked sharp at all but if we go with full backs and wingers he has to start really. Hayes and Taylor together on the left would be too defensive.

Oh, of course.

Iā€™d start with two forwards myself.

Forster;
Simu, Jullien, Ajer;
Forrest, Brown, McGregor, Taylor;
Rogic;
Griffiths, Eddy.

they are - proof if it was ever needed that celtic and rangers have a symbiotic type relationship

Yeah happy enough with that as the alternative. With no Ntcham and Christie and Johnstonā€™s injury we really donā€™t have great subs today. It will be Elyounoussi or Griffiths most likely and then presumably Bayo and I guess Hayes as an attacking winger if weā€™re really struggling.

Donā€™t forget Frimpers, although he may start.

There may be parallels with the first Cluj tie from the summer. In both instances a 1-1 draw away from home felt like an okay result, even though we could have won each game.

We werenā€™t right at all for that return Cluj game. Initially we were kind of paralysed and didnā€™t play at all until they scored. Turned the game around then and led twice but didnā€™t know how to kill the game.

Easier said than done, but it would be nice to play on the front foot tonight but in a controlled may with a solid foundation and structure. It doesnā€™t need to become a wild, end to end game. Iā€™m hopeful weā€™ll win by a couple of goals.

Rumoured team is

Foster
Simunovic Jullien Ajer
Forrest Brown McGregor Taylor
Rogic Elyounoussi
Edouard

Not sure how reliable a rumour it is. Iā€™m not yet calling it a TFK exclusive. Not sure Iā€™d have Elyounoussi ahead of Griffiths in a 3 at the back formation. Maybe gives us a bit more defensive stability and helps crowd the midfield but the primary advantage of the 3 at the back has been allowing Griffiths to play alongside Edouard.

Ooofffttt.

Celtic Celtic Celtic.

+1

Iā€™d much prefer Griffiths alongside Edouard in that lineup. Luckily your team exclusives have been very hit and miss of late though.

As I exclusively revealed.

Wonder if itā€™s to allow flexibility with Ajer switching to right back if we want to play 4 at the back
