The Prestigous Europa League thread 2022/2023

Yes @Lazarus is also an oddball well spotted.

Throw???

Was the same craic at the Carabao final…

Anthony Taylor is scum.

Suso is a Rolls Royce of a player

English referees should never ever get big games. Shocking standard and the arrogance of them as they get calls wrong all over the shop.

Even my Laziale friends agree Taylor is disgraceful.

Sevilla were the best side man United played this season. Impressive stuff from Roma.

They finished 11th in La Liga this season. They only beat ye 3-0 too. A relatively competitive game compared to some of the beatings ye shipped during the season.

Only team we faced twice this season and didn’t win either of the games I believe.

The Sevilla manager looks like a fella that there would be a bang of diesel off of.

Matic has been unreal.

The Pharaoh is coming on.

I hope some of those excitable types here are within range of a defibrillator.
This is a great contest, 2 gladiators going for it balls out.

I’ll wait for the penos.

Sevilla are the Germany of club football penalty shoot outs. And they have the man who won the World Cup.

They were in their holes. United fucked it away.

United battered them at home until Slabhead intervened

There are some sporting outcomes that have become wonderful little traditions that serve as markers of constancy during a sporting year.

Monaghan performing an unlikely Houdini act on the final day of the NFL season.
Rory McIlroy either going on a too late final day charge at the US Masters, or missing the cut (both are traditions in and of themselves).
Leinster messing up in the Heino.
Mark Selby being involved in grinding safety battles and re-racks at the business end at the Crucible.
Guardiola short circuiting in the Champions League.
Wexford pulling off an unlikely heroic win over Kilkenny in the final game of the Leinster round robin.

A relentless Welsh charge to the Grand Slam and Wenger era Arsenal capitulating 6-0 to Chelsea away used to be great little traditions but have fallen by the wayside. Nevertheless the Arsenal capitulation returned in a different form this year.

Sevilla winning the Europa League final (preferably on a penalty shoot out) is perhaps the definitive sporting marker of constancy.

I’d love it if all of these little traditions came together in one single year to create the ultimate generic year of sport.
