The Public Transport Plan Announcement Thread

Please be patient. @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy is currently on an eco-friendly fact finding mission in Brisbane. He’ll reply at his earliest convenience, but do note the time difference considerations.

I may have jumped the gun and fingerpointed Dublin bus. I’m sure they would point me in the direction of Go Ahead, TFI, etc to deflect to another quango.

Is this actually fair enough tho?

It probably is but the days of the bus flying into town (if that ever was the case) are no more

Think there’s incentives for the bus drivers to reach stops at the designated times , maybe not before or after :man_shrugging:

Well you can’t use contactless on large parts of Tokyo’s system so I’m not sure why it is such a surprise.

But, but, Japan.

They had legal tender which wasn’t accepted Timothy

In fairness the Japs probably devote time to their system being on time and actually good

Comparing the Japanese transit system with the Oirish one isn’t going to go well for @Tim_Riggins

They count their delays in seconds. And often only single digit seconds. And in the biggest city on earth

Not a single train on the Dublin underground was late in 2024.

They do yeah. Personally I would get more exercised about the infrastructure need here.

It might, and I’m only saying might be possible to do both

They are. But my point is I’m more concerned on the planning delays, although the majority are through planning now and some moved to tender.

Had to get a last minute train from Dublin to Cork. Train is heaving and of course I was able to buy my ticket at the station(I could/would have waited for the next one if so informed). Standing in the corridor and there’s so many people doing the same the tea trolly can’t get around!! And to cap it all off where are we currently stopped to allow congestion on the line to ease…Irish Rail?? Cowboys Ted!!

I wonder how the Tokyo lads manage this scenario?

There aren’t half enough trains for the demand that’s there.

Now that Dart+ has been delivered in all but actual delivery, let’s crack on with this
