While the Angry Metal Thread exists and there’s of course The Smashing Tunes thread, I’m wondering is there a niche here for discussion of hardcore/punk music that sometimes falls between the two stools? I’m thinking mainly 80s/90s US stuff, the kind of bands that feature in the book ‘Our Band Could Be Your Life’
As a starting point, I’m recommending this documentary on the band who inspired that book title - Minutemen.
Perhaps. But someone had a Melvins tune up that I wanted to bang out and I’d to wade through Ocean Colour Scene to get there. Is there one alright perhaps that serves the needs?
The metal thread was expanded to include punk dude. You already know I’m a massive Kennedys, Minor Threat, Misfits, Husker Du, etc. fan. Happy to contribute here as well, but you could lash your tunes in the other one. Worst comes to the worst you’ll have to listen to the odd Meshuggah track, but they’re only posted to get on @anon7035031’s nerves.
Fair enough. Perhaps someone with the authority should delete this thread. The Angry Metal thread has some great stuff in it, and nice interaction between the posters on it also
Was it always called Angry Metalheads and Punks? To be honest, I’m a little embarrassed with myself now, such was my eagerness to share that Minutemen documentary.
Don’t ever apologize on here…unless you’ve passed someone’s personal details onto someone else to ring them up in the middle of the night, that’s slightly over the line…
It has good people, including yourself, and good music taste. A good share of the stuff -
Particularly the more '‘metal’ end of things - is new stuff to me so is most welcome.
