The Race for a Vaccine. The Road to Demaskus

Some great nights in Costello’s/Bakers place over the years. Was very conveniently located near the social welfare office

I’m out

We are about to get inundated with vaccine side effects hysteria.

Surprised moderna’s good news hasn’t been posted up yet, early indications are that the moderna vaccine prevents transmission. Mcdinkey is running out of places to hide.

They reckon we’ll be vaccinating on Dec 27th here.

I was talking to a nurse there, she says it’s a load of balls- half of them should be at work…a lot of hypochondriacs whipped up by a hysterical meeja. Her solution is to charge people for a journey in an ambulance, works in Canada apparently

He’ll hate that altogether. Jab the nurses and carers and doctors first. Lockdown the nursing homes until they get the patients done and we’ll be away.

That’ll be good news when the vaccines are released in 5 years time.

Oh no wait. They were released 8 weeks after he said that.

Any word on how many doses of these vaccines will arrive on these shores and when?

Will we have 1 million jabbed by Cheltenham?

Be good to go mate. You’ll be in the best mate enclosure if you’ve no jab though

Covid would be the least of worries for what you might catch in there with the riff raff

The hookers at Cheltenham should get priority access to the vaccine in the interests of public health

That’s discrimination and will be challenged by many, many people.

It wouldn’t be. They have shown they can do anything on public health grounds.

It will be challenged. By many, many people. As to whether such challenges succeed or not, that is another matter.

The US could now have a second vaccine approved before Gunther and Gertrude are finished looking at the Pfizer one here.

The US hope to have 40m doses (enough to vaccine 20m people) by the end of the year.

That’s enough for 6% of the population. I don’t see supply being the problem as the politicians claim. It’s most likely going to be how efficient countries are at getting it rolled out.

Well the problem is the US are taking all the supply. There’ll be loads going around by March that’s when it’ll test the HSE logistics program. But sure they’ll no doubt be well on top of it

But 6% of the FS population is only 600k doses.

In the O6 it’s 216k doses. As of a few days ago 4k in the O6 had already been vaccinated.

So I don’t really see supply being the big problem, it’s the government getting excuses in early for the dysfunctional services in place.
