That Kilbride team seem to have the most peculiar history. They were Wicklow senior champions in 1968 but are now Junior C with a 2nd team in Junior D. Talk about rural depopulation!

Rural depopulation or alcoholism!

Managing to have a 1st team in Junior C and a 2nd in Junior D is quite the achievement. You’d think any training at all would have a team scaling the upper echelons of Junior B at least. They must have the bones of 40 players registered to field two teams. Very unusual that their 1st team would only be Junior C.

There’s a Wexford town equivilant.

The Volunteers?

Joeys were senior in the 70’s. Ger Howlin was starting on the county team. Half decent up till the late 80’s, then in the 90’s they sold their awful kip of a pitch to the Gaelscoil. Until about 2007 when they came back again, and basically went after player in every other club in the town, and became a glorified pub team to be seen in Browne’s.
