He has a 5k PB of 16 or 17 mins as well. He’s one of those lads you can only be either inspired by or completely jealous of because he’s so fuckin talented at whatever he does
You couldn’t really be inspired by him because 99.9999 % of people aren’t wired like that and couldn’t possibly even dream of doing what he does. You could be in awe of him though.

It’ll be interesting if himself and Fintan do join up with Doyle and Lynch for LA. Doyle is a doctor as well. 2 Irish Doctors winning an Olympic medal on the same boat is a lovely middle class story. Lynch spent a few years in Yale too so is another high achiever. I’ve no clue of Fintans background but he’s no gobdaw either

My brother in laws brother did 3 or 4 years dentistry and decided it wasn’t for him and he’s now a school principal. Decisions like that would have a parents head absolutely melted at the time but it’s the right thing for the long term.
Some lads are just wired differently. And the lads that aren’t generally find their way to online forums!

It would be some achievement for 4 30+ lads including a 34 and 35 year old to win Olympic Gold in LA. Steve Redgrave won gold in the 4 in 2000 as a 38 year old but had 2 30 year olds and a 28 year old with him.
@Cheasty could you find me an Olympic Gold Medal team all over the age of 30 who won gold in the heavyweights 4s?
The four which Redgrave was involved in was one sided rowing whereas our lads are scullers. If they all got together it would be in the quad. Sculling is a more technical discipline than one sided rowing. The Dutch team which won it this year was 32/30/30/24.
