Gaelic games are a key component of Irish culture, nothing wrong with wanting that maintained and strengthened. That is common all over the world, Aussie rules, ice hockey in Canada, rugby in NZ.
Then on the flip side do you really want a sport like soccer championed, where feigning injury for gain is celebrated and rewarded? What sort of society would that produce. Have a look at the background of many in the court reports to find out.
That’s rubbish. The gaa will always be a fabric of Irish society. That doesn’t mean you have to go around hating other sports. Some people don’t like gaa and they might like rugby or golf or football. There is nothing wrong on that.
I know but ive no skin in the game. Enjoy any sport but for example Jordan Larmour, destroyed Munster at Thomand one christmas. Electric he was, as he progressed it was like he was told to take the risks out of his game. Now just an ordinary winger.
That’s just the game… Sports go through phases where defensive plans are on top then it changes then it changes again… Watch Bristol or someone if you want to see a different style. Watch munster against anyone bar leinster and you will see them running it plenty
Your point is simply idiotic and it’s that very attitude as to why hurling is playing in so few areas. Pure snobbery. Our game is the greatest game ever bullshit.
Soccer has an international element as it was spread by its founders the British and at a basic level it’s very uncomplicated and easy to play. Not so at a high level but few Irish people can ever have laid claim to mastering it. But that’s all you have to defend it, the fact it was spread internationally by the British
its a global game because its good to watch & good to play, hurling despite being pushed on people by the church & the state int played in most of Ireland
why is that? is it because its shit to play & watch or are the GGA a shit organisation?
Soccer is global because of the British and their lackeys like you.
Hurling takes huge effort and time to attain even basic technical proficiency and there’s a risk of injury. The former keeps most away, the latter keeps yellow streakers like yourself hiding under the bed.
I’d the misfortune of watching Bristol this evening, they were beat 20-13 by Sale in an awful spectacle. Their try scorer though was “Carlow man” Bryan Byrne, who is from Ballickmoyler - how does that work. Surely there are not 2 Ballickmoylers in that part of Ireland?
