The Rugby Thread (Part 1)

Where else do you think they learned it.

My key point, that soccer rewards cowardice stands fully undefeated

You even agreed with it without realising

Hurling isn’t as popular as it should be because a fair majority of its fans are snobs. They firmly believe it to be superior to every other sport and completely dismiss anybody with different interests. It’ll never grow with this narrow attitude.

Yeah v poor tonight… That’s what happens when two well matched teams meet in most sports… They scored 50 points last week running it in from everywhere…

No idea what your talking about ref Byrne… I thought he was a carlow man but know nowt about the geography

That doesn’t make sense as it’s popular in tipp and the counties surrounding it only. Its a geographical based sport that hasn’t spread

I don’t think it rewards cowardice. I never looked at diving as cowards move. I look it as pushing the boundaries of the rules. I don’t view diving any different to a fella moving the ball 5 yards forward when the refs not looking.

It will die before it grows

I always thought he was a Carlow man as well but Ballickmoyler is surely a Laois stronghold @myboyblue? But sure a lad who spells his name with a Y is entitled to play fast and loose with his identity.

If they aren’t careful you could be right. There doesn’t seem to be any stomach to grow the game which is a pity.

You think that’s the same as rolling on the ground wailing pretending to be hurt? Are you simple?

Remember when the gaa put out that famous ad showing gaa players in hard challenges and soccer players weakly falling over with the tag line ‘real men play gaa’ the FAI response was… showing how it was wrong, counteracting it? Nope, the asked could they withdraw it cos it was really really not nice. The gaa feeling sorry for them, yet again, took pity and did. A foolish move.

The Cavan hurlers will be still going long after shamrock rovers fold.

I’ve no idea what that add was but it sounds incredibly cringey and would only be produced by the gaa. There is a serious insecurity amongst gaa fans about the popularity of their sport.

You shouldn’t be bothered what other people like and this “our sport is better than every other sport” is very embarrassing.

You’re an awful needy cunt

I know an English man living in Dalkey who is a sailing fanatic. He told me 2 years ago he had spent his Sunday in Armagh watching a club hurling game, thats when I knew rugby was in bother.

There is plenty of lads from gaa strongholds playing rugby now as well which is great and Sure hurling is very popular in south Dublin now and isn’t that great?

Kids should play as many different sports as possible imo. I don’t ever get the hatred for other sports from gaa fans. It stinks of a serious insecurity. There is plenty of shite hurling and football games just like in every other sport.

Ya that sort of stuff would make me puke.

Aye but it confirms your assertion that there is no stomach to grow the game of hurling is nonsense. I assure you 20 years ago that type fella wouldn’t know where his local GAA field was, never mind to be going to Armagh to watch a game.

I was below on West Cork last year and a man said to me his two sons and a daughter were playing with their local rugby club and he spent his Sundays up there coaching the underage with no background in it. I Knew then the GAA in W Cork was fucked

Soccer is bad for Irish society, forms weak characters. Important to highlight and fight that.

There are 4 hurling teams in cavan, lol
