The Rugby Thread (Part 1)

So did a heap of others betweven 1914 and 1918. They also took a good few hammerings between 1939 and 45.

Wouldn’t read to much into it

Why was this friendly played in the states?

Not on their own.

AIG and Addidas .

Nothing new for the Munster men, but a new experience for the non Munster men.

so what?

Great too . What is your point ??

Thanks very much @Fagan_ODowd

A bit like the Tipperary begrudgery of Austin Gleeson yesterday, as if beating New Zealand wasn’t good enough the fact that the rugby haters are so upset and pissing in their cornflakes over it just puts the tin hat on it.

The likes of @Nembo_Kid and @ChocolateMice are just seething.

I’m not seething, mate.

I just asked what competition the game was in? Still awaiting an answer.

You’re after picking out two of the posters who have been rather passive about it which in fairness them is their right. There are a few more around here though that cannot get over the fact that in one of the few events where this country is represented by all 32 counties, a united team beat the world champions.
Some of them are so caught up in their own begrudgery, they can’t even give credit to Dundalk for what is also a fine achievement for a team with limited resources

It was a friendly mate. Disappointing the rugby fraternity didn’t reply to you.

Thanks, mate.

I thought it was which was why I find the reaction bizarre - I’d be embarrassed by putting such emphasis on a non-competitive game.

oooft

You’d know what, you’re dead fucking right. It’s an absolute outrage that the friendly last night had over 50k at it. It’s also baffling that the upcoming “friendlies” will also be sold out while at the same time the FAI find it hard to half fill a stadium for
soccer ball friendlies.

You’re right - it is bizarre.

Friendlies are non-competitive games who are just there for the aspect of building team balance, familiarity, fitness and trialing players and systems. The result is not important as far as friendlies go, at least that is the case in normal sports with high profile major tournaments.

What are you on about? I answered that question 11 hours ago.
