The Rugby Thread (Part 1)

I was just curious really. I don’t ever really associate Ulster with strong club rugby at least not since the AIL days a fair old school Ulster attitude there about “proper clubs”

Two “proper clubs” in cork play out of Musgrave park…Sundays well relegated to junior rugby this season and dolphin relegated to 4th tier shipping 97 points last day of season at home…

With kids or adults?

Its odd the Irish national team are flying but intetest in Ulster and Munster seems to be dying a death. Youd hardly know Munster are playing these days. The recent European cup defeat in South Africa barley got a mention. Leinster are so strong i think it has killed interest in the other provinces.

Sure there’s no interest in the hurling championship and you seem to think it’s great.

BBC NI show 6 games a year now again

Lads would have you convinced rugby in Ulster is flourishing because a club who used to be among the elite is now in contention for promotion from the 4th to 3rd tier. The Ulster team last night had 1 player start in no’s. 1-10 who came through the Ulster system, that’s a shambles.
On a more positive note, and not entirely unrelated, we are in great shape in the hockey up here.

37,000 tickets sold tonight but no interest in hurling. You are right mate.

Split season has destroyed rugby

Looked fairly full but it is blood from a stone at this stage.

A Munster game next week will overjoy the IRFU.

Leinster v Munster next week in Dublin.

Connacht sneaking Heinken Cup is gas. Plenty of lads out of contract next year will be doing well to get one next year.
