The Rugby Thread (Part 1)

O Gara is giving a masterclass in how to strike the ball in wet weather…

Tommy Bowe is after walking over for a try

It looks like Canada have given up here. Potential to get 100 points here and I’m not messing.

potential is there alright but hard to see the players having the motivation to…

Thank fuck for that. Just made my spread for 53.

Shocking game, wouldn’t be too negative about the performances because the weather and the quality of the opposition conspired to make us very ordinary indeed.

Individually the backs did quite well. Didn’t think Reddan was fantastic but he did ok. All the outside backs played well, including Horgan when he came on. Stringer was woeful.

Up front back row did fine - Ferris was impressive, Jennings was quiet I thought and Heaslip was somewher in between. Otherwise I suppose it’s just the set pieces and they were adequate but handling was poor on secondary moves off lineouts.

Eddie O’Sullivan is part of BBC’s coverage.

thought stringer was solid useless today…could well be his last match in an ireland jersey

Yeah don’t see the point in retaining him. He was slow, ponderous, timid and his pass was shocking.

I would agree, but even in his pomp he was never an impact player…If you are going to play stringer you need to start him…

I reckon Ferris could well keep his place for the all blacks match with wallace in for jennings and hayes in for buckley…I don’t think there will be too many other changes, possibly murphy in for earls…

As is the cuntbag David Humphries…

elaborate please pukey ?

I don’t like david humphries…Didn’t like his style of play or his manner on the pitch and i don’t like his manner off the pitch either…

Humphs was a class act on the field of play. i’v never met him off the field so can’t comment. He was a savage player on his day though.

I look forward to Ian carrying on the family tradition.

full solid useless Puke?

threw out a few shockers off his left to no-one in particular.

wallace should have been on the end of at least 1 but it’s still shocking to throw blind like that.

reddan left a few roll through his legs which might be a lack of understanding with his back row, or maybe his level of protection at wasps is better. also got pulled into the rucks too often.

always thought he was over rated myself…had great vision but used to play way too deep, couldn’t defend and his passing was nothing better than average…but each to their own I suppose…

I would be shocked if Ian ever plays for Ireland…

The Rugby crowd could have salvaged some pride had Humphs the elder been at the World Cup, after O Gara had the meltdown.

we could well have…I don’t think it is Ronans fault that their is little or no quality back up for him though…

Anyone that classes themselves as a Rugby fan is not a true Gael. But then Ye don’t have much of a GAA tradition doen in clare.

if you say so tipptops*…

I’ve met David Humphrey’s, I must say he was a very nice fella, loves Rugby, loves Ulster, going by what I’ve heard from RoG’s book he’s a nicer fellow that RoG, but that doesn’t matter. RoG wouldn’t be the player he is today if it wasn’t for him being pushed by Humph’s for the Ireland jersey back in the day, in fact, if Munster had Humph’s as outhalf against Northampton we’d be three time champions now.

Unreal - if he was born anywhere in the South West he would be a god. A tribal form of racism I’d say. He inspired Ulster to win a Heineken Cup. Was more of a playmaker than O’Gara will ever be. Doesnt have O’Garas kicking game that Ireland and Munster rely on though.
